What would you do ?

  1. I am a racer and will give 100% for the team...

  2. However, my new team is my future, time to lay up...

The Pic/Petrov battle in Brazil made me wonder what Chuck would have done had he been in this position (.

You're going to a new team next year who is presently outside the top 10 (meaning it will be an uphill battle for $$$$). With one lap to go, the car climbing all over your backside happens to be from your new team.

You happen to be noble and pragmatic. What would you do ?

Let him by (but don't make it obvious). I'd also make sure that Fernandes knew I let him by after the race in private...

Why? F1 is cutthroat and you have to look out for #1. This move not only endears you to your new team (in which your teammate will probably be another new guy) and also guarantees your new team will have more $$$ for development next year.

    Who cares what Marussia thinks?

And the problem with that is your new employer also knows your motivation... The day will come when they don't view your disloyalty to your team favorably.

Give 100% for your current employer until they are no longer your employer.

Good argument for both sides. Tough call. But lets not forget that F1 is the Piranha club and short term benefits are the only thing tangible.

    Dayum girl! Good question! :)

Which can only have one answer IMO; I'm a race car driver, and will never let anyone pass me cheaply.

"I didn't get where I am today by letting folk past!....."

I'll worry about next year when it arrives (hope springs eternal after all). In the meantime, I'll do my utmost for my current employer. Hopefully, both my current & future employers recognize that and I can return to either in the future.

    Respect? ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

... and only 80 seconds to make the call.

It's easier to list the drivers who probably wouldn't think twice about missing the apex.

Imagine facing the team after pulling the trigger....

I'd not pass my future team. That 10-20m goes a long, long way for a team that small and that little resources. Let your future team owner know what you did...It's looking out for your own best interests as well to make sure your new team has the highest advantage possible going into the new season.

If it was going for higher teams > top 5 I'd make the pass.

Whoa! Hang on a moment - Are you sure you've got that the right way round!?

To me at least, the "honorable" thing is to be fully behind your current employer and do your best as long as that remains the case, as I said above. [The majority seem to agree too.]

Again, I'll worry about next year when it arrives. In the meantime it's my job (and my honor as a driver) to do my best.

    Cheers,
    Ian
