BACK FROM MY 3 DAY BAN ! On Sunday evening, I posted a thread called: How many races lost by Ferraris during the last race. Now, what I mean by that was obviously how many times did Ferrari lose the title during the last race of the season NOT how many titles were lost during the last race as in the last race that occurred. In the content, I mentioned how the following last race of the season races did not go Ferraris way when trying to win the title: Irvine-Hakkinen Shumacher-Villeneuve Massa-Hamilton Alonso-Vettel (twice!) My intention was obviously to post an interesting thread and discussion on this last race losing streak that Ferrari is on and hear everyones toughts. Shortly after, I get banned and blocked out without a notice or anything. I emailed Fchat and explained my side and they did not lift the ban. I must say I am incredibly disappointed in Ferrarichats behavior and feel I should not have been banned for such an innocent misunderstanding. I can see how it may have caused confusion but the rule is: You cannot post race results on race day in the subject of your thread. I DID NOT post the result of the race in my thread title so I DID NOT break the rule. I think it was my first time ever posting in the F1 section and boy, what a welcome I received??? I am a good guy who follows the rules, I try not to cause trouble or insult anyone on here and I try to help/contribute whenever I can. I think that Fchat could have given me the benefit of the doubt and lifted the ban considering the circumstances and I am disappointed. The funny thing is that for 3 days, I was able to read everything on Fchat while being logged out so I got all the benefit from the site but I was unable to help others that had questions I could help them with so it made me wonder who gets penalized from an unfair banning??? Not being able to contribute and share knowledge seems like it would hurt the community, not the single user who still has access to the site. Anyway, sorry for the rant guys but Ive been waiting 3 days to get this off my chest. This is an opinion forum and its my opinion that the banning was unfair. I know Im gonna get some rules are rules replies but I dont care. I feel I did not break the rule and its not always black and white, sometimes it can be grey. As for the spoiler and the rule, I am someone who regularly tapes sporting events and watch them later so I understand. However, I just dont get on Fchat when I taped a grand prix and havent yet seen it (its not so hard to stay away for a few hours ..I dont get it???) A simpler way would be not to show the title of the latest active thread last post column on the ferrarichat.com root page. This way, someone could get on and go in whatever section and just avoid the F1 section. I feel like I got a lot out of Fchat but I also feel that I have given a lot. Im a subscribed member and I try to be helpful and I am not one to be a troublemaker so the rush to judgement was really harsh. Now, today is my birthday so please be gentle my fellow fchatters who will disagree with me. Also, let me say: its nice to be back in the brotherhood.
no, your title was "How many titles lost by Ferrari at the last race?" which spoils that this year Ferrari might have lost the title at the last race. Might have been the ultimate spoiler of the year because it came down to being the most important one title and one race. FYI, personally I hate the spoiler rule. I think it is stupid we have to baby thread titles for people that don't watch the race live and can't avoid looking at F1 section until they watch the race. However, over the years we have revisited the rule and the popular opinion is we still need the spoiler rules.
I understand the confusion and I see your point but I wanted to be clear that it was not done intentionally and I meant "last race" as in "last race of the season" not "last race that just occurred" I tought the punishment was a little harsh....I was only trying to post something interesting. In the rules, you also state: "FerrariChat.com does consider that some users may not be aware of our community rules and are otherwise good users. Our moderation team will try to warn users, but for serious violations and for users that have been warned before bans may be implemented that range from 1 day to permanent." I feel that, given my track record, you could have extended me that courtesy by removing the thread and giving me a warning. You chose not to do that, it's your prerogative. Nothing I can do about it now....I voiced my opinion and disagreement. I'll be more careful next time and learn my lesson I guess.
thanks Steve, sometimes that's all you wanna hear..... Also, I forgot one important thing in my rant. I do apologize if I ruined the race for anyone...I know how frustrating that can be and it's happened to me many times so I am sorry guys.
you would have to speak with the mod, all the mods know I'm not any help when enforcing spoiler rules.
Honestly, I disagree with Rob a bit here. You could read into the title either way that would or would not make it a spoiler. I could have easily have posted the question "How many titles lost by Ferrari in the last race" a week ago and it would still be there the day after the race. It's a legitimate question that I'm sure some would be interested in answering. Should it have been better phrased after the race? yes. Spoiler? Depends on what you already know or assume you know. If a title of a thread is not a spoiler one day and then a spoiler the next, it's hard to see why it's a spoiler at all. Now, if you said: Ferrari lost the title in last race, how many times has that happened? That for sure would be a spoiler.
What exactly is your point? Taking the fight down the final race is more 'not winning' rather than 'losing'. Besides, in the Schumacher-era, Ferrari mostly didn't need to wait for the final race to clinch the driverstitle. Ferrari gets their fair share of success.
Hello Fab; What mod issued the ban?, some are MORE trigger HAPPY than others, I would KNOW!!!.....Mark
Don't know....it would be nice to get an email or something saying you've been banned by "such" mod for breaking "such" rule, etc....but all you get is this page saying you are banned until such time and date, nothing else. Like I said, it's a little rough. Especially when you consider that it is a pay service for the ones who subscribe, an email would have been a little more classy, even an auto-generated one.
My point was simply that: "When the title comes down to the last race between a Ferrari driver and a driver from another team, Ferrari always seems to lose. I tought it was kind of interesting. Lord knows I've seen threads a lot less interesting than that on this site...
almost all our ban notices have a description of what you did, I'm pretty sure I saw "F1 Spoiler" in yours, but since it is over I can't confirm your actual message. some mods in a hurry might not complete the description.
Tough call but when the refs pick the "red flag" on the field and make their call, the final judgement stands!
I get it. even the "is Ferrari going to protest the yellow flag....." thread title could have been a spoiler. It implies that had an unfavorable outcome (ferrari wouldn't protest the results if they won)
Couldn't the mod have just adjusted the title after reading the first post in the thread seeing that it wasn't the intention to be a spoiler ? Shoot first ask later I suppose.
It's very simple; don't post any results or stuff that might reveals results in the thread title. If someone is stupid enough to go in the F1 section and click on any thread he/she shouldn't complain about spoilers; as long as it isn't revealed in the titles.
Happy birthday and welcome back kid!!! Dont worry about what happened, but for future reference in the other forums of the site DO NOT mention that you changed an ORIGINAL label from a ORIGINAL spare tire / rear view mirror/ glove box / hood, because IT WILL cause a discussion (and the wrath of the gods) to see if the car is now a REAL FERRARI or not. Said discussion WILL CLEARLY shut down the site; and probably end civilization as we know it!!!!!
You got a 3 day ban for that? Wtf?! I agree with Rob - the spoiler rule is a joke. Especially in this era with information & results everywhere. Wow - really disappointed in the mod that pulled the trigger there. Kevin
It's not as cut and dry as "just don't browse the F1 section, then". If somebody is using the Tapatalk app on their phone or otherwise just browses the Latest Threads, they are going to see the thread title without ever going to the F1 section directly. That title was definitely a spoiler. Nice rant tho.
Actually that isn't totally correct. The most recently accessed thread is visible on the landing page so even if you have no intention of going into the F1 section once you sign into FChat you are presented with the title of that thread. If its a spoiler you have unfortunately seen it and its too late. The suggestion to have the mod change the title is the most constructive suggestion and probably takes the least effort. A simple message to the poster would let them know what they did wrong. As for the explanation (defense) provided by treedee3d, his position gets thin considering he had 364 days to post that thread but chose to post it on the day the title was being contested. It doesn't take squinting too hard for that title to be a spoiler.
I'm not disagreeing with what the mod did because those are the current rules BUT isn't 3days a tad harsh? Maybe look at changing it to 24hrs instead?
