    And the fact that Ferrari can't file a protest either way

    Article 174 (d) of the International Sporting Code makes this clear:

    Protests against any error or irregularity occurring during a competition, referring to the non-compliance of vehicles with the regulations and concerning the classification established at the end of the event shall, except in circumstances which the stewards of the meeting consider as physically impossible, be made within thirty minutes of the official publication of the results.

    Not sure why asking the stewards to look at a clear cut violation of passing under yellow is desperate... I think if it was a controversial / arguable incident, then yea, it would sound pretty darn desperate, but it's not.

    There is undeniable proof of a clearcut violation (nothing left for interpretation like some of the technical regulations) in the video, and to ignore that would probably make the FIA look more stupid and discreditable than making Alonso or Scuderia look desperate and pathetic imho.

    wtf do we need a governing body for if they can't even police and enforce these fundamental safety rules.

    The problem is its a ton of money to Ferrari. If Vettel did make an illegal pass, is it wrong for them to pursue it? From a PR sense, yes. From a financial sense, no.

    Again, it's not a controversial call...just the ramifications might be perceived as controversial. Part of the F1 game is the affordance of protesting and often times seeking clarity on "interpretations" of such things as the technical regulations which happen ALL THE TIME post races, pre races, all season etc.

    When the tools are available to rule in real time, I'll agree with this point. At the moment this isn't the case. The stewards take laps to make up their mind. Imagine they did that in football or any other sport.

    I had the same thought about it happening in another sport too. Of course in American football the game is stopped for an instant replay call. Right or (too often) wrong the call stands never to be reajudicated.

    Because this is the one sport where they can do that!......

    Charlie really does try to get it "right" IMO, despite what the TFHB claims. ;) Makes no difference if it's "real time" or a few laps later - He studies the vid and (generally) makes the right call.

    Deciding in court a month later is a different thing. Although not without precedent of course. :(

    No word from Paris as yet AFAIK (?)

    It depends if you think that justice delayed is justice denied or think that wheel of justice grinds slow and fine.

    Personally I'm more excited about the news due out of NASA than that from Paris.

    Which is what I mentioned yesterday, I'm glad the Internet agrees with me.

    In this case there was nothing wrong but say a certain President which recently won an election actually lost, would you be happy with the results or demand that President be outed?

    Every time NASA makes a big deal about something, it's nothing. ;)
