They never launched a formal protest. So many on this "Ferrari" website are so quick to criticize!

According to their Twitter feed: "Ferrari asked, by means of a letter, for a clarification from FIA regarding VET's overtaking move on VER during lap 4 of the Brazilian GP"
I don't know whether that counts as a formal protest, but I said the shame was that questions were asked days after the race instead of at the time. Until Ferrari put out that tweet I would have agreed that this was all just gossip and internet speculation.

So they asked for clarification it's not like they went into full-blown protest mode. Let's be fair, it was a pretty confusing situation.

The only thing that surprises me is that the letter originated from Alonso's management? Surely it came from Massa's side - after Alonso's management told them to do it! :)

FIA has responded to the controversy. Seems like there was a green flag that was manually shown to Vettel after he passed the final yellow flaglight before he reached the green flaglight.

They also said the manual flags overrule any flaglights so, even if that final one was yellow instead of green (it was green), Vettel still would not be penalized because a manual green was shown to him and he made his overtaking after seeing it.

So I guess the debate is officially over?

    Same infraction.
    Different times.
The two "events" that were first brought up were found to be non-events after-all.

This is a whole new kettle of fish..

Too bad BBC gave NO credit to the private individual who caught this and documented it all by his lonesome.

One man can make a difference.

Just in case the FIA takes away the title from RB one week after the last race I am sure that Brazil was the last GP I have ever watched....
Who wants to look at a sport that tells you days later who has won??? For the same reason it does not make any sense to look at the Tour de France anymore...

And for those who think that this would be a way for Ferrari to win anything: take off you red sunglasses and face reality. The myth of Ferrari is based on the great cars and the great drivers the Scuderia had in the past and not just on the number of championships. Ferrari was still one of the most respected teams after winning nothing for 19 years. So another win would not really add to the myth but a protest would be horrible for the reputation.

The fact that comments in this direction come from the side of Alonso is not really a surprise to me and just add to the impression I have of him: unfortunately his character does not seem to keep up with his (indisputable) talent....

The FIA has not decided anything days after, they are merely responding to the written clarification that was requested. No one is protesting, just asked a question that is 100% legitimate and the FIA has responded and the explanation makes total sense. Nothing wrong with that is there?

As for character, it's not what we look for in a driver. Schumacher is no angel either but should we sacrifice on trying to sign the best driver available and sign someone who's not as talented because he's a nicer guy?

That´s why I said "Just in case...."
On the other hand: why should one ask for a written clarification when he is not at least thinking of a protest?
Yes, you are right, one should sign up the best driver possible. And the driver should suit the team as can be clearly seen in Hamilton/Alonso being the best drivers loosing the title against Ferrari because they worked against each other rather than for the team, so maybe character is also a factor...
But for myself I can say that it is also a question of character who I support as spectator. I was not a fan of him when driving for Renault, the time at McLaren did not really add to that (when complaining about everyone and everything) and things have not changed now just because he is driving Ferrari. But that is just my oppinion and that´s why I said "I am not surprised..."

Well as the F spokesperson said they still have until tomorrow to file an appeal. C'mon there is still a chance! VIZ is right this is the best way to deal with post season separation anxiety. Somebody get Jensen's onboard footage - there has to be something in there that will promote Fred to 1st place.
