Yes, it would have been better PR for Ferrari to not seek clarification on the whole flag issue, but this really is a bit of a stretch to call for Alonso to go over this. Really, he gave us a brilliant and nail-biting end to the season. Thank goodness we at least had one driver in the running for WDC.

I just hope Luca wakes up to the fact that the team needs better design, technical development and strategists if they are going to get on top again. They need to start putting together another dream team behind the scenes.

But haven't you seen the other thread where all the Ferrari "fans" on here have ruled the team to be pathetic?

Seems to the be trend here.

I don't think the team is pathetic. The opposite actually. Obviously there are many great individuals there who did a great job this season. I never called for Dom's resignation. In fact I think the greatness of the team is undermined by the current arrangement with Fred as the #1 and all the less than admirable tactics they need to employ to maintain it. Further I believe that this yellow flag fiasco did come from Fred and now the team has to issue a statement to cover for him. Some of you guys have this attitude that anybody that doesn't love the way the team is conducted are just haters and therefore that justifies any unsporting act that may be carried out. Meanwhile it is because they are doing these things like the gearbox seal and the yellow flag that even fans of team are saying enough already. There is a difference but you guys are so defensive you can't see it.

There is no proof either way where the inquiry started - only statements issued by Ferrari and likewise assertions by others that it may have been Fred. Do you really think the team thought they had to investigate something that was so obvious because they felt an obligation to the fans? Cmon that is PR word smithing at its best. Or worst.

We have statements from Ferrari themselves vs. assertions of F1 bloggers.

    I like my chances.

Depends on the matter. Driver signings? Hell no. Something like this? Considering they have stopped looking into it further, why lie?

Which entity has more information about what went on:

-The team that actually filed for the clarification

    or

-F1 bloggers playing a guessing game and trying to up website traffic

    Hmmm...

This is funny. Fred is going nowhere. He is the best on the grid, just has a tainted reputation. Besides, Ferrari does not pay Alonso's salary, Santander does.

Did you even read the article? They never blamed anyone or questioned any legalities - Rather, they, prompted by "thousands of outraged fans" simply asked Charlie what he thought - Not doing so would be negligent. He responded, they're happy and have moved on.

Again, maybe it's time for us too also.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

Well given Fred's past I don't put it past him and therefore remain open to either case being true. Otherwise my opinion remains. The team will be better off if they can out from underneath Fred's thumb especially before Vettel re-signs with RB. Honestly I fear implosion from within if they wait that long but let's see what happens then.

i agree alonso is the best on the grid. he tainted his own reputation, however, with his antics.

Yeah about as much of a joke as Ferrari questioning Vettel's pass. But don't take my word ask Bernie. Or Charlie Whiting.

Coming from somebody that just wanted Massa to crash into Vettel. No wonder you have to use big letters to make a point. :)

Unfortunately, all your posts only prove your remarkable dislike for Alonso. Predictably, this leads to an irrational need to over defend your point of view as it is quite clear your position is non negotiable. It isn't helping and is now just noise.

Fact- Alonso cannot be replaced by a significantly better driver right now. The consensus view is that the top 3 drivers are relatively equal in performance, so there is no speed advantage. As for team driving- Ferrari, generally, favour the lead driver approach. This isn't a philosophy imposed by Alonso, it is a match in philosophy and just goes to prove how well suited he is to the team.

Fact- F2012 was a POS. Denying it is irrational.

Fact- 2nd in the championship was an over achievement- due in no small part to Alonso. He has clearly earned his seat for next year and that's just fine.
