I happen to be in possession of the block belonging to #AM101*1708*. Fabio Collina has confirmed to me that the internal engine #994 originally came with #1708.The car was restored in Seattle in the early 80s. Should anyone happen to own the car or be aware of where the car is I would appreciate knowing.

Has the engine block you have in possession the number #994 or #1708?

Walter the #994 is found on the Bearing Web and the Bearing Cap. The # on the back of the Block is unreadable/illegible.

What the factory calls the "internal number" should also be stamped on the left front side of the engine block, next to the water pump. Is 994 stamped in that area?

The 2nd and 3rd photo clearly confirm that the block is overstamped!

A picture from the rear of the engineblock might give his true identity.
A number is also stamped behind the flywheel.

Hello Walter; That is what I noticed. I see a "106" as the initial 3 numbers, then the "Over Stamping"....Mark

Some additional information has surfaced. AM #101*1708* was owned by a Dean Rauch in the early 80s. The car was registered in Seattle Washington. The license plates at the time were UIM 643. Any help would be appreciated.
