I think more in terms of active fans. Remember big hollow front bonnet on mule plus experimented in 599xx.

I do not think the Fiorano time will improve.

They either already achieved it or it is the benchmark they set themselves.

I raised that in an earlier post that hopefully the times took no account of the fact that it has been running in a very high drag disguise and also no surprises unless it exceeds these figures. Hopefully. But maybe they have made an allowance?

I find it hard to believe that by releasing those figures that is all the car will offer. Note they used the < sign. That suggest that maybe the car might be substantially quicker than the figures quoted and also allow for the fact they may not be running a fully developed tyre and we know in a high drag camo. So logically they would never release accurate figures prior to launch and give something for Maclaren to aim at. I think there is a lot more to come and we have been fed an 'amuse bouche' !

I think you are wrong. See my post on THE F70 thread so as to not repeat myself.

I know in 599xx they are central with air coming out of the back, but I am sure it could be done separately on the front too.

Imagine radiator fans turned to 11.

Much more elegant and effective than pagani huayra type active aer.

Something else I'd like to see are fan shaped wheels sucking air from the underbody.

Last time I saw them on mcmercedes slr

IMHO they have not even achieved the time yet.

It's what they set up to achieve and I am confident they will in a way or in another.

Sometimes Fiorano lap Times are a bit artificial in my opinion as if they are following the marketing script and 5 sec seems a bit too neat

I only started it as this one went way off track and totally off post and was fed up opening the thread to see some private off topic battle going on.

    That would be very cool.

And I agree, it would be a very elegant solution.

It would be a kind of "nod" from Maranello to Woking. ;)

It all started with Murray's Brabham F1 fan car.

The same Murray who dislikes modern McLarens

Jim Hall used them in 1966. We used them on P 4/5 (Road) by laying the front radiator flat and having two fans on top pulling the cool air from bellow.

599XX fans, IIRC, were used with a more aggressive diffuser to aspirate the boundary layer, thereby delaying flow separation and ensuring greater down-force.

It also used some air jets at the back to break up the wake and reduce drag.
