The 458 Spider will be a classic. The 458 Spider with an aftermarket peephole installed will be less of a classic.

Yea, not feeling it either. It's almost like the Corvette ZR1 with the hood see through of a plastic cover, what's the point.

Isn't it interesting how few aftermarket FCar body modifications actually improve the car, and many make it worse. Is there a lesson here?

I think there is a lesson to be learned. Ferrari has perfected the design. They have left nothing on the table.

Similarly, Ferrari has left little room for aftermarket companies to boost performance in the 458.

Nobody can see the engine whilst you are driving. so this is just an option for when you are parked.

    Options:
Open the bonnet so people can see the engine. or
Take a picture of the engine and place it on the dash for all to see.
Buy an Italia. A 360 spider or an F430 spider or a 16M.

The crinkle red valve covers are the most visually appealing part of the engine, IMO. The plastic parts covering the oil fill is not very interesting. I would not get this.

    Hello to all of you,
    Hello Lesia,
we will discuss this matter at the end of 2013. What do you believe, how many manufacturers will design such a bonnet in addition to Capristo? There is nothing more
that I can reveal at the moment, but some more details I am willing to let you know.

The bonnet will be designed to come with a glass screen. Of course you cannot see the engine because the engine is arranged too far to the front. What one can see is a small
part of the intake manifolds, air flow meter, oil level gauge and carbon air box. We are facing the problem that
directly below the screen there is the lock arranged. Consequently we made a traverse from carbon fibre. Below this traverse the lock is hidden and above there is the Ferrari
lettering. As a consequence the Ferrari logo will not be located any more on the lacquered
engine bonnet but on the carbon traverse under the screen.

I am of the opinion that it looks much more technically when there are some carbon fibre parts under the screen and it will look very nice.

But basically our target was quite a different one. The F458 Spider is a wonderful car. but when you have a look at it directly from behind, the car seems to be too monotone. Too
much lacquered area and too less contrast.

Our target was to change this area to make it less monotonous. We also considered the
technical aspects. The air intakes were designed a little bit higher to ensure that the airbox gets some more air.

Furthermore, taking into consideration that the F458 gets very hot at its rear part, we
wanted to drain the heat in a more advantageous way. So we have considered bigger
air outlets and instead of 3 of them per side we made 4 per side.

To realize this bonnet we have built tools made from steel to ensure that all the parts that
are manufactured are also 100% identical. These bonnets we will have lacquered in Maranello and supply in a completely lacquered condition to enable the customer just to
    mount them.

This bonnet must be ordered directly with us and we are searching for distributors to the
    USA.

If this should arise the interest of someone, please contact us in Germany because the
company Taurino is responsible for selling exhaust systems only. All the other parts like the bonnet, remote control kits, service parts, ..etc. can be ordered directly with us in Germany.

That's only partially right. Used in that context it is a milder form of 'fück' rather than a direct replacement. But these days it is more commonly used to say something is a bit rubbish in a cheesy or tasteless way.

Capristo, I like the idea of CF just under the glass - would indeed look technical. And very 'trick' to have the Ferrari logo below the glass. I do think you're wrong, though, in your take on the rear deck as it stands now. I think it is a work of genius and a perfect alternative to the glass on the Italia - it perfectly references elements found in Ferrari's back catalogue while feeling thoroughly modern and appropriate to the rest of the spider's design. I have no doubt, though, that there will be enough people who disagree with me to make a glass cover a nice little earner.

    Lesia, io sono Antonio,
I have. one 458 Italia coupe, I ordered the Spider because I wanted to make this change

it's a nice car ... no .... is wonderful ..... wonderful ... no no no I can not describe this work of art.

but the back is too much red paint ... please do not say I want to order in a different color.

I think many people do not like, but also a lot to like it. I think in 6 weeks will be ready, then there are a few photo.

I want to deliver the hood with the original color.
I do not know how much does it cost, I do not know how much does it cost to paint.

I think with glass and paint about $ 7500

    ciao Antonio C.

Does it directly bolt on?.Is there a panel there that can be removed on the OEM lid? Can a local shop do the work?

In the picture posted above it looks like something off a vending machine. Ferrari chose not to attempt an engine lid window, I imagine because of the presence of the retracted roof underneath. In this case, I think that they should have left well enough alone. Fred
