You have to be kidding!!! All the prank calls I made and received as a kid....no one died! The Sydney radio station that aired a fateful prank call to a UK hospital will donate at least $500,000 to benefit the bereaved family of a nurse duped by the hoax. http://bigpondnews.com/articles/TopStories/2012/12/11/AFP_investigate_2Day_FM_threats_825359.html?cid=ZBP_NEWS_L_R1_TOPSTORY_AFP_investigate_2Day_FM_threats_111212
I'll bet a brick to the Bank of London the hospital were the main culprits here They would have given her major grief for passing the call on, old Lord Uphimself would have torn strips of her, it's the nature of the upper class system
on a similar note, a mate of mine left a note when he killed himself but nobody got to read it ..... weird, as no-one had a clue what problems he was having
A couple was Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve and the whole place was heaving, packed with other last minute shoppers. Walking through the shopping centre the surprised wife looked up from a window display and noticed her husband was nowhere to be seen. She knew they had lots still to do and she became very upset. She rummaged in her handbag and found her mobile phone, then used it to call her husband to ask him where he was. The husband in a calm voice replied: "Darling, you remember the jewellery shop we went into five years ago, where you fell in love with that diamond necklace that we could not afford and I told you that one day I would get it for you...?" His wife's eyes filled with tears of emotion, she began to cry softly and stifling a sob she whispered:"Yes, I remember that jewellery shop..." . . "Well," he said, "I'm in the pub next door!"
in the past 17 years i've lived in this country, I've notice the western world turning into a beauracratic, political correct, nonesense do gooder, sissy nanny state (especially Australia). in part i blame the UN for sending us all these refugees who is in love with our social welfare instead of contributing their skill. WTF is wrong with the system? if the prank call was a direct insult/bully/torment to that nurse and caused her to end her life, by all means, they should be presecuted by the law. but this case, they pretend to be the queen, made no harm to the nurse herself, why is no one asking if the hospital, or the British Media, or the Royal Family been giving this poor nurse insult/bully/torment for believing the prank? this actually reminds me a bit of China, only, they would have kill the nurse and said she died of cancer. being politically correct is what's ruining this great country.
Again...'The note'will tell all. ......But you are correct,it seems, though,it's the pommy press beating most of it up. I don't really understand what they expect the exponents of the prank to do. Whatever course of action is taken by anyone Aussie involved in this drama,it's never going to be enough for their press. I,for one, feel the hospital is at major fault for not having a call screening process in place. If they, whoever 'they' are let it be known to all and sundry that a member of the royals were there for whatever reason, then 'they' should have foreseen an amount of interest in the situation.
My understanding is that this was the nurses role, to screen calls. But yes I'm sick and tired of the western world becoming overly PC ... pathetic. And it is not helping anybody. Growing a backbone is far more beneficial for all concerned. Pete
