Actually some of the rules are pretty retarded but that's common with alot of Australian laws. Also Customs is allowed to deny entry of a firearm even if it follow the letter of the law(ADR's so to speak) but whatever. I'm more interested in your take for gun control in America

Also this site is better http://gunpolicy.org/

How exactly am I clutching at straws? When stats are on my side. How many people died in massacres this year in the states?

Scud's picture stated 10,000 handgun deaths in general not massacres.
wiki states 30,000~ car deaths. Ok Kink and Moretti mentioned guns are WEAPONS for killing and cars are transport, so why are there so many car deaths??

    Who is clutching what?

because licenses are too easy to get and our useless govts and law enforcement focus on the single premise that speed kills ALL the time.

Train people to be better drivers

The bottom line here is that guns are too readily available in the US and they see them as a solution to all their problems, the instant gratification mindset

The problem with the right to bare arms is that children are not taken into account. A child obviously cannot carry a gun and thus immediately they are at a disadvantage.

Compare this tragedy with the stabbings in China (http://www.ryot.org/22-children-stabbed-at-chinese-elementary-school/35114) by a similar nutter ... kids stood a much better chance in China.

It sure is hot over there.. if some of the attitudes I've seen on display are representative of the voting population they are doomed to repeat this over and over and ...

If a classroom of kiddies being victims isn't a good time for gung-ho pro-gun types to seriously reflect (instead of being adament of actually *increasing* the arms race) then nothing will be..

What a sad and horrible event... as much as I admire many good things from the USA their inability/refusal to address the steady series of massacres isn't one of them..

    You are,sunshine.
How about this for an oxymoron:
who would call the name of their party piece, many years ago,

    A COLT PEACEMAKER.

Sort of says a little of the Yank mentality,on this subject.

And for crissakes Tony, you DON'T GO AND BUY A CAR TO GO AND KILL SOMEONE.

This is about a clown who went out with the intention of KILLING people,deranged,autistic(possibly..apparently),or otherwise, the choice of method was a specifically DESIGNED item to do just that.

I had a go at shooting recently at a range (my first time ever picking up a gun). Was a heap of fun and I'm actually thinking of getting a licence and buying my own gun. It's quite technical.

I made it to the Queen's shootout when I joined the RAAF , SLR was very powerful and an intimidating weapon, I hated it and all guns but I can see the need for the military

    I love shooting.

Did clay pidgeon shooting at school, and had another good go march this year.

My father was into pistol shooting for sport and Roo shooting for pests on a relations property.

He had some nice guns, in particular a Smith and Wesson magnum pistol. As a Chemist he was allowed a concealable weapons licence and could take his pistol with him anywhere he wanted up until the early 90's! ( he never did of course, good line though)

However, I believe our gun laws are appropriate and if you want to shoot you fit in with them.

How about we go clay pigeon shooting on the GG. Is there a shooting range nearby?

    Great idea, we'll find one.

    Looser shouts drinks for dinner.

Or do you think we should go after drinking?
