his mom legally had them, he didn't. the school had emergency procedures for this exact situation. the school had secure entry. it will be very hard to analyze what should have been done differently. crazy people will do crazy things even with all the safeguards whether in America or Australia. FYI, I know for a fact it would be easier for a rogue government to take over Australia than America.
See? That's exactly the problem. People have guns....that makes it easy for other people to steal them or for a situation like this to happen. It wouldn't matter how crazy I suddenly become, I can't grab a gun, get on my roof and start shooting people. That's just hilarious.....and quite delusional, if it's the way you really think, and not just another of your little jokes. As an aside, I understand kids at schools are given regular drills of how to proceed in a situation like this. We don't bother doing that here...no need.
1. Whack Jobs only live in America. 2. Americans want and expect all foreigners to tell us how bad we are. 3. Every civilized country with the exception of America is a utopia. 4. Although America is the worst country on earth, everyone from every where else would cut off their right hand or sell their mother to the highest bidder to get through the door. 5. Only guns that say Made in America kill more people than guns that say Made in ___________. 6. Although my country has its share of problems I felt compelled today to tell you how much worse your country is than mine ( also I'm what is known as a global busybody). 7. Guns, ya we got guns, but they are not the type that could hurt a fly, we got sporting semiautomatic flyswatters and pest control grenades for that purpose. 8. If only we had a bill of rights like yours then we could ***** and moan about it to our govt and not spend another day and a half complaining on some lousy website about it and spend all of that other time chasing women, drinking beer and driving fast cars.
I remember a nice visit to some mining town in the outback where a very nice man lives. the very nice man took Jennie and I on a great tour of a local lake that was just gorgeous. kinda felt a little restrictive and like I was prisoned though, the paths around the lake by the dam/dike are fenced in. your government is very different than America, it restricts everyones freedom and rights to protect a minority. we aren't babied in the United States and we're willing to die for that right to be free. freedom comes at a cost.
We left yesterday and it was getting windy. Most of the resorts are in low lying areas and would be a scary place to be when/if it hits
"we're willing to die for that right to be free.".. so instead of telling us you've contacted the parents and said that? (only it's their kids lives, this particular week, given for *your* "freedom"?) Do it and let us know how you go with that.. It's well beyond simple "gun control" knee jerk reactions.. it's a complex situation and there are a lot of broken things for this to be happening time after time..
I was staying at the Fijian many years ago when a cyclone struck. That was an interesting experience. I was in the main part of the resort, there are/were stand alone luxury hoochies for the well heeled.....they all blew in. The government, some months prior, had a rebuilding programme for their telegraph poles....lets make 'em out of concrete, except for around the hills and headlands, where they kept the daggy old timber posts. Guess which one fell like matchsticks......
Alex, i think only americans can subjectively/objectively look at this issue and work out what they really want. we've never really had what they've had and we cannot really understand why they are the way they are. Like i said, plenty citizens of other countires in the world wish they could legally own guns to protect their private property, not only against others, but their own government (which is what the 2nd amendment is all about) we live in a nanny state, and tbh, most of us already born and bred to think like all of us needs a nanny
well if you ever saw the second tier hotels in Fiji like I did 25 years ago you'd know it can be a lot of fun I did some silly things as a boy GG story for sure
are you allowed to vote for whoever you like ? are you allowed free speech ? are you allowed to move freely anywhere you want ? are you lining up to get on a boat to come to Australia ? Do you fear you will be shot if you go to the pub ? (well maybe if you're a Collingwood supporter ) will you be executed for being a drug courier ? (probably should be!) The only other countries I admire are Canada and NZ, just like us they step in as good Samaritans to help right wrongs that are being perpetrated
Latest reports say it was the assault rifle used to murder the children. I can (almost) get my head around the logic of having a pistol to defend against armed assault, but why does anyone (not in the military) "need" an assault rifle?
I'm much more worried about another Australian invasion of the United States. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is only ONE reason that anybody needs a semi automatic or automatic rifle and that is WAR, there is no other excuse to have one, what parent in there right mind would have one in the garage ?
Australia is one of the few countries in the world where there hasn't been a civil war or foreign invasion* that has shaped and influenced the thinking of the population in many other countires in regards to this. *obvioulsy excluding the "invasion" of Australia in 1788.
do we get taxed on whenever the government thinks it's "nessasary", and we just let it happen? freedom of expression maybe, but there are a lot of things i can't say these days in public, or deemed as racist/politically incorrect/horrible (even tho it's the f'king truth) yes, with dodgy speed cameras and lower speed limit whenever the government is out of money they love australia because they can have 10 babies and get lots of money! but if i want to start a business and hire ten aussies, oh no, this form that form, this regulation that regulation, maybe union this union that. comply to this comply to that, f that i'll make these **it out of China thank you very much. if i could legally carry a gun in public, no i wouldn't be, hell i wouldn't even go to gym! but gun shots happens in Australia even with a strict gun control policy, if people really wants to kill someone, they'll get a gun. let's not pretend they are that much harder to get. and most of them comes from thailand, no trace, no markings. (and good thing i don't follow footy ) if i was a drug couier i should be executed, as well as serial rapists and murders. god can forgive them when they are dead. society don't need to.
during the mongolian occupation of China a thousand years ago, the Hans (Chinese) weren't allow to have meat cleavers to chop meat/vegie for dinner. every household (of 20 also people) were only allowed 1 meat cleaver, no other knives, swords were allowed (death penalty if found) the excuse was for citizen's own protection, zero crime rate and murder etc etc, but in reality, they don't want the Hans (majority of the population) to have any chance of uprising against the central government (Mongols). and they can continue to exploit the Hans any way, shape, form they like. the 2nd amendment is the greatest expression of freedom on this planet, and in the history of mankind, where the People have the power not to only protect themselves from others, but to be able to form a malitia to throw out the government if it's no longer act in the interest of the people they've sworn to serve and protect.
