I would suggest that the best way to handle this dilemma would be to advise her that you have conducted the required research and have concluded that she is indeed correct.

    Happy Holidays!

Whats thoose electrically adjustable louvres for?

When closed, to quicker come up to engine "working" temprature, and when open for engine cooling. Much work and value loss for a not so important issue? (Original hood is enough for cooling?)

Yes, has cooling purpose, the whole bay is closed, so no hot air can escape from the original side louvres.
Would be interesting to know if that central air collector can fit the original bonnet, since it looks well engineered.

Unfortunately not, it can't because it is too long and its top will hit the flat area of engine hood.

Good thinking Joe. Now the new problem is that she insists on driving the Countach, and has never driven a stick shift car before. What would you advise?

[Blatant Sexism]Start a list of other work that can be performed while the engine is out for that new clutch?[/Blatant Sexism]

Get a '67 or earlier VW Beetle and have her drive that first. If she can roll up to a light, stop, and then find first... she can drive anything.
