+1 Want to see Condit beat Macdonald
Sorry gents, nobody is smacking Rory into humility. He is too good. If Condit can win again, it will be a very close one, or Rory will win it.
My predictions are ALWAYS wrong, So i won't say who I feel will win. But I would like to see Rory fight Diaz. That would be a great fight. If Rory does fight Condit, I'll be rooting for Condit!!
Great weekend to watch UFC, with 2 events having taken place. Starting with Hector Lombard - now that is the Lombard I want to see go against Silva. What a difference between this fight and his 1st one in the octagon. Palhares is a very dangerous opponent, and Lombard just destroyed him. Colton dominated Ricci, but man, what a snoozefest. I am not a fan of any fighter who is only capable of wrestling, and only lays n' prays. Colton never came close to submitting Ricci, and that's because he is incapable of it. Ricci is much more exciting to watch, and I look forward to his next fight at LW. As far as Colton goes, I really have no desire to see his next fight at all. What a KO by Barry! Very impressive. I love seeing that guy win........one of the most likable fighters in the UFC, IMO. Big Country does it again, in absolute dominant fashion. Mitrione was completely outclassed. Other good fights as well, but too many to go over. What were your favorites?
Colton totally dominated! Big Country impressive for a fat guy. Looking forward to Condit Vs. Macdonald
Pulling for my local boy leben. He's been Doug strength and conditioning with my boxing coach. I'm worried about the 13 months of rust. Belcher, boetsch, lauzon and jds are my picks.
I'm going to go with Cain. The man is on a mission, and contrary to the 1st fight, he should be healthy this time. It will be a war. Also look forward to Lauzon/Miller. I can't pick a winner here - too close to call. Guillard/Varner should be a war too. I give the edge to Varner.
Thankfully no. Leben needs to hang it up obvious he had ring rust. Okami gave a good performance belcher had been on a tear winning his previous 4 maybe he was looking too far ahead to anderson. I was optimistic on boetsch after he beat Lombard but the Greek was too strong. Lauzon impressed me after beating Varner and I thought miller was susceptible after losing to Diaz but that fight was epic and miller can win anytime anywhere as anyone who watched him dismantle guillard can attest. Props to lauzon he was bleeding like a faucet and still going for the ankle lock in the waning seconds. What happened to jds' superior striking he was rocked in the first round and never recovered. Looking forward to Cain vs Overoid. Good news about Melendez getting instant title shot against bendo. Gilbert is 2nd best lightweight in the world to bendo IMO.
What a bloody card last night! I don't think I've ever seen that much bleeding going on. I was very impressed with JDS' chin......the guy just didn't go away. He seemed to get a 2nd wind towards the end, but just couldn't get anything together. The guy is still one of the most respectable fighters in the sport, and we know we'll see Velasquez/JDS III somewhere down the road. I don't understand how 1 judge gave Guillard the fight with a 30-27 score, where the other 2 judges scored it 30 - 27 for Varner. How can they be so opposite? Wineland has such a unique style, with his hands always down. It works for him though. His movement is not quite at Dominic Cruz's level, but it is damn good. Poor Leben. I like to see him do well. I hate to say that his best days are behind him. Belcher got put in his place, IMO. The guy was over rating himself, even talking of deserving a shot against Silva. Sorry Belcher, you aren't at that level. Lauzon/Miller was epic! What a war. Probably my favorite of the night.
Anyone catch AXStv's "Best of 2012" recap? Incredible fights. I highly suggest you see it if you haven't already. Rather than just showing finishes, they showed entire fights that were just pretty much non-stop action. Excellent!
I guess that was the last Strikeforce event last night......... I am very excited about the influx of fighters we should now see in the UFC; -Jacare -Melendez -Mousasi (Armen, this guy better perform!) -Roger Gracie -Noons -Cormier -Rockhold -Barnett??? You guys think he'll end up fighting in the UFC?
The card was pretty good. Some MAJOR mismatches. But all entertaining. Saffiedine was very impressive last night. I thought he had no chance against a 170lbs. Marquardt. I noticed that Cormier had a bounce in his feet kinda like Fedor. He looked dominant but against a lower level opponent. Jacare is AMAZING Probably my 2nd. favorite fighter in Strikeforce, gotta pick Mousasi as my no. 1. And Boy did he deliver!!!!! MMA shows are always fun to watch. and this card was no different. oh, And Barnett's fight... He is underrated. I'm a fan of his. Very well rounded. When he is in shape and hungry, He's tough to beat. I'd like him to go to the UFC. But if he doesn't, it's still OK. How about fighting a monster looking dude named NANDOR! That would scare me alone!
Out of all of the guys I listed in my post just above Armen's, who do you think will end up as a Champion in their division at some point in the UFC?
Wow - tough to say. Best shot to Rockhold, and Melendez. Not sure Melendez can beat Benson Henderson, and I know Rockhold won't have anything for Silva. But, Silva is getting older, and perhaps when he moves on, then maybe Rockhold has a chance. I think Cormier has a solid chance against Velasquez - if they would ever fight. Interesting how heavyweight went from being stacked to being a dud IMHO. Have to hope Overeem can make it interesting (and I think he can). Otherwise, there's no one and Cain isn't going to fight Cormier. I do believe Barnett could be trouble, but he's undecided. Let's hope he comes over...
I think if Cormier's 1st fight is against Mir, it will be a good measuring tool to see what we can expect from him in the UFC. If he has a tough time against Mir, I think Cain would destroy him. Look at the rude awakening Bigfoot Silva got against Cain. Overeem is going to be trouble for anyone. The guy is just a freak of nature. The size of Brock, but mad, mad skills. Overeem/Cain is the fight I want to see. Barnett is the dark horse - if he ends up in the UFC. Insanely skilled, but getting up there in age. I don't think anyone is beating Benson anytime soon. Even if he rematches Pettis, I think it will go down a lot differently than their 1st fight. Melendez may put up a hell of a fight, but I cannot see him beating Benson. Silva just signed a 10-fight extension, so he'll be around for a while. I think Silva would make Rockhold look amateurish, like he does to just about everyone else.
Going to Bellator tonight. It's right in my backyard. Pretty excited about this card. Chandler is Amazing. I just hope he can get by the monster Hawn. And even though im all about BJJ, i really would like to see Pat Curran win.
UFC 156 Tonight Boys!!!!! GREAT CARD! I'm dying to see Overeem SMASH "Bigfoot" (not that I dislike Bigfoot) But Watching The Reem Is always exciting.
Overoid has superior striking and heavy hands. Just hope he isn't caught looking ahead to Cain. Edgar and Aldo too close to call. Ring rust always an issue and if fight goes to championship rounds I give advantage to Edgar. Evans should take care of little nog. Will suga drop down to fight Anderson if he wins? Fitch and Maia also close. Maia looked good against story and has great bjj and Fitch had one punch ko power. Card is stacked should be a good one.
Wow! Big Foot Silva! Unbelievable! Very, very impressive win. I truly thought Overeem would destroy him. I am blown away. Great fight by Edgar, easily Aldo's hardest fight. Rematch? I would love to see it. Maia is so strong at WW. Impressive win by him. I wouldn't be surprised if Fitch gets cut - I am sure Dana is looking for any reason to cut him. Wow, is Rashad ever boring to watch. So uneventful, like the majority of his fights. McCall/Benavidez - awesome fight, awesome division.
