    Okay so what do I need to do? I assume I don't have to pay for VAT out there as I'll get charged up the arse here for it... What else do I need do? Any car import guys out there?

    You'll void the warranty bringing the car into the US . . . Also, for what you save, it's going to be a huge hassle. Bringing cars into the US made more sense ten years ago when the dollar was much stronger v. the Euro and supplies were limited. Wait for a GTO in the states . .

    A serious collector told me that it's very hard to service a Euro Ferrari through FNA dealers. Once they find that the car is Euro, they will have a hard time getting parts for it. We were discussing about euro F50s so it might not be true for a GTO but i doubt it..

    Hmm... good points you all bring up... didn't think about the voided warranty part nor the ability for FNA to take car of the car once stateside. I would try and buy one here but it's impossible to find white!

    Can't you just use an independent workshop that specialises in exotics to take care of your GTO?

    What the collector told me is that you would need a european address to be able to get parts and basically you would need to deal directly through the factory. Im not sure how easy that is.

    If you buy a car in Europe and import it to the US there's no VAT.

    There is US Customs duty (about 2%) and local DMV tax.

    Parts are a non issue as is service.

    Warranty is a question for a lawyer.

    You do have to use a registered importer and may have to post a bond and "Federalisation"
    may not be allowed, you have to check in advance.

    Personally I would buy a US legal car and paint it white.

    Probably the easiest solution. The GTO is a special car, but I don't think a color change would be that big of an issue.

    The gentleman i spoke with was explaining to me that part of the reason why Euro F50s are so cheap and do not move, is because of this part problem with FNA. Other than having to have it federalized which was already a big cost in time and money, he said if you needed to replace the dashboard or any other part, most dealers wouldnt be able to order the part for a euro vin and that you would have to deal directly with the factory and prove you have a European address. Is that not true?

    There are a lot of people who can source Ferrari Parts including several sponsors here.

    There are a lot of people who can repair Ferrari's who have no dealer or factory affiliation including several sponsors here.

    Repairing an F50 dash isn't something I personally would go to Ferrari for.

    There are a lot of Euro Federalised Ferrari's in the US that get serviced and find parts every day.

    Much less of an issue than a Federalised one assuming one could federalise one.

    If you are really serious, contact Dick Merritt if he is still at DOT and he can give you contacts and what needs to be done. What Napolis says on service and parts is correct, no problem. Ferraris are very close to being world cars now, and US and ROW cars are not as different as they once were.

    Not impossible. Saw one at Miller and one at FNE last year. One of them popped up in South Florida recently. I'll keep my eyes pealed - they're drop-dead gorgeous in white!

    You and me both! I've seen one go but it was like two years ago and I wasn't in the market then... figure like 10-15 worldwide in white

    Wouldn't it just be easier to wrap a US spec car in white? Protects the paint and keeps the originality of the car when/if you sell it.

    The curves on the 599 are pretty agressive, I have a full clear bra on mine now and it was redone like three times... I can't imagine how hard a white wrap would be, besides it's the overall color transition of the stripes, mirrors, badging that works!

    Titanium360isback (member here) had a white GTO that he sold through Miller. Maybe they can help you locate it and you can make them an offer.
