Thanks for your reply and correction; do you know if Chet Flynn did race this same car at the '58 Cuban GP?

Haven't logged on for a while and just caught up a bit on this thread.

Jim Pauley is in 0464/MD at Thompson in 1955. There were quite a number of racing events at Thompson and not all made it into media reports.

I have other photos of Thompson that are not mine to share ... but the venue is definitely the same.

There were four practice sessions held in April and two in May.

A race was held May 15 1955 but a Siata had race #53.

A race in July (Tom Burnside was there) is completely uncovered (except by him) so far as I can tell. See his book, "American Racing" (pages 57, 59) ... not within reach of me at the moment.

Pauley won his class on September 4 and is perhaps the best "guess" at the moment as to the when and where. Contemporary photos appear in the magazines "Badge Bar Journal" #21 and "Sports Cars Illustrated" December, 1955 (p.47)

Another race was held October 8-9 and is a possibility even though neither the car nor Pauley appear in the accounts and photos seen thus far of the event. This race was scheduled originally for the following week but was moved up for some reason.

I've not yet checked any of the photos that I've referred to here but will do so when I can.

Thanks. That agrees with the photographer's memory.
He may have more shots from the same event but they aren't handy.

The car with race-no.22 (photo 4/9 with Denis Jenkinson) is clearly a Maserati 250F.

knew it! the first F1 race I ever attended. Except the only Formula 1 cars in the race were the three Ferraris driven by Phil Hill, Richie Ginther and Belgian driver Willie Mairesse. I believe I recall Taffy von Trips driving the first mid-engined Ferrari G.P. race car, the 1 1/2 liter F2 Dino. The major British race teams - Lotus, BRM and Cooper - boycotted the race. Porsche sent two monoposto F2 cars. Hard to believe more than a half-century has passed.

    "Seems like only yesterday!"

Some of them do have a brief description. It is in light green above the photo. I almost missed it myself. Not very easy to read.
