John, I wonder if it will have such sharp edges on the fenders as this drawing, or more rounded as the brake drawings that Isaac posted.
Yikes! I hope this is just a very poor Photoshop attempt; especially the rear... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bad Photo Shop of a C6, the C&D last drawing looks pretty good, but the GM Released front of the Brakes that Isaac posted looks the best.
It's funny anytime people who dont know/work on the c7 discuss with those who don't talk... about the tail lights GM should look at it this way... the initial leak has helped people warm to the design more gradually
I'll send you pix from my phone I believe they are only going to show the base car at the show.I'll find out when the ZR1 will be shown. THAT'S the one you want!
So if this is really the 'new style' C7 Corvette what are the chances the Detroit show car will be a different color than red? Maybe something new like the Las Vegas silver or? My guess; they will wimp out with the same old red Corvette intro. CH
Since when is a red Corvette willing out? Looking forward to seeing it in January. Should we get a karting night organized at Kart2Kart during the show?
Not surprising if so, http://www.autoblog.com/2012/12/21/first-2014-chevrolet-corvette-to-be-auctioned-at-barrett-jackson/
Good question. Reason for the red color choice is more complex than that however. The PR types prefer red because that's what the magazines like to put on thir covers. It also photographs a bit easier than the drk colors tend to. Silver is great because it shows off the surfaces best, but there are so many silver cars it doesn't always "pop" to get everyone's attention. Can't tell you how many times we fought these decisions about what color to debut a new vehicle
In the past who had the final say? It seems nothing is simple in the car biz...thanks for the insight! CH
My question on the styling is simply this: Why did they actually do the Camaro tail lights? Was it a personal fetish of someone high up in design? Was it calculated to boost the Camaro image? Did they just not know it would be contraversial until after the decisions had been made? It seems inexplicable to me. My other question - which will be answered in time - is on the drivetrain: With the new cylinder de-activation, I would assume that the ultra-high 6th gear overdrive is gone. Is the six-speed now a balanced gear ratio gearbox with six fully functional ratios? Is 6th now the top speed gear?
used to be a "collaboration" between the Design Staff/Chief Designer/Studio team, the VP of Design,Marketing,PR,the Vehicle Line team, and it seemed anyone else that happened to be walking within earshot of the decision process,or anyone that had an opinion for that matter........ truth is generally it was Design along with the Division mgt. and depending on the colors of the other cars in the Divisional display. The PR people wanted to get the covers of the major magazines,so they wanted max impact. Audi for the past several years has been showing all the cars in their displays in the same color. In Detroit last year they were all white. In Frankfurt several yrs ago they were all red. Then in that sea of like colored cars, they would show one in a totally different color to grab your attention.Porsche has tried the same color strategy several times as well.
The $$$ is going to College for Creative Studies.......cool. Maybe I should ask for a raise but hopefully it will go into the Scholarship Fund.
one of the many mysteries of the universe maybe they aren't exactly Camaro taillights however but the real reason.......because someone wanted them that way nothing is by accident or by chance everything is hashed over & over for months on end controversial...absolutely look at all the hand wringing in the F70/F150 thread on the slightest details I can imagine the conversations that took place in that design studio!
Probably the same discussion they had on ditching the pop-up headlights on the c6. Also isn't the c7 going to have a 7 speed manual?
There is a great book, All Corvettes Are Red that provides great insight to the way GM works on Corvette. Worth getting.
