Gentlemen, I know you will like this one; so much that I do not even translate it... http://www.eurosport.fr/formule-1/saison-2013/2013/transfert-romain-grosjean-dans-le-viseur-de-la-scuderia-ferrari_sto3539389/story.shtml
Well Sid...Luca says that there are two men that interest him for the time being, as prospective drivers for 2014: R.G and Nico Hulkenberg. But a lot of water can flow under the bridges until the day comes for signing one of them, though... Wonder what Fernando would think? best
Absolutely brilliant. Lettuce hasn't yet taken out his teammate IIRC, so the only guarantee that Alonso won't be affected is to hire him. Additionally, he will take out the occasional contender, and Alonso never has to worry again about his teammate finishing in front of him as Lettuce never finishes at all.
Alonso will never sanction Grosjean as his teammate, as Grosjean will handily outqualify Alonso fairly consistently, and we all know Alonso hates anything that could possibly even suggest that he's not the world's 'best' driver..
If only that rumor were true. I -like- Lettuce, I think he'll be great with a little more time in the seat. He's aggressive and the only reason folks don't like him is that he won't back down to -their- favorites.
Strikes me as wishful thinking by the French press. BTW, for you Alonso haters, at the end of the day Ferrari will hire who they want. They may give Alonso say in the short term, but long term they will do what they need to do. They pushed Schumacher and Kimi out the door (most recently, they have a long history of it), they'll push Alonso out if it's in the best interest of Ferrari.
Well, Alberto, its my fault as I was too lazy to translate, but it actually comes from a confidence Luca has made to "Auto Motor und Sport", which is a german paper... Don't know if that makes it more credible... I do not want to always write the same things over and again, but actually the french press does not enthuse, or even speak a lot about R.G; the french press is not very much interested in racing anymore... Rgds
+1 Apparently, crashing into the back of one of your favorite drivers and costing him the WDC is "not backing down." He also wiped out MS at Malaysia and cost him a race he had a damn good chance at winning. Grosjean is a ****.
With all due respect - Complete & utter BS IMO! You may not like him, and that's fine, but to suggest Lettuce is even on the same planet right now makes no sense. FWIW, Autosport has just posted a new story with the headline "Vettel eyed for Ferrari post Alonso" - Dunno who's saying what as I've again run out of views this month. If anyone wants to grab it and share would be much appreciated. Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/
I read the article and it basically really is talking about who they are watching. Grosjean and Hulkenburg... as for who is best? I think Vettell is the #1 guy with Alonso right behind. Pretty clear that Massa is out after 13. unless he is WDC, but I doubt that will occur... unless Ferrari produce a vastly superior car.
OK, thanks. I know who I'd go after, and it wouldn't be either of those guys....... I'm not so sure on the first part. No question Seb is building one hell of a resume but in the same car I'd put Fred very slightly ahead. Shame we'll never get a chance to find out. 2nd behind Fred would be the outcome if that were the case! Although, I'd kind of enjoy it if they were to do a car that Phil and not Fred can get his head around. They then enjoy a role reversal early next season...... I don't think it'll happen, but it would cause a worldwide shortage of crow!...... Cheers, Ian
Not just a rumor, but today Motezemelo said that if he had to replace Alonso with another driver when the time comes, his pick would be Sebastian Vettel even over Lewish Hamilton. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/104909
If the season 2012 has shown something it is the fact that the most important is to finish more races than your opponent and collection point constantly...As just one DNF might make a difference whether you are WDC or not it does make sense to have Grosjean in your team :-D Better for Ferrari he takes out a Red Bull or a McLaren in a second Ferrari than the leading Ferrari sitting in a Lotus...
