IIRC the WDC winning cars from Surtees' era have all been destroyed and there is none left. But I believe Chris Rea has made a 100% replica, seen in the movie "La Passione" (very weird movie btw).

Is that replica ever seen in public at any kind of events (Goodwood perhaps) or in a museum?

Yep, heard the same story, and also that this replica was shown to the late Phil Hill, who was amazed by it; I even thought that it has been recently tested on the old Spa circuit (yes, the REAL one!) by the team of the belgian magazine "F1i", I think they made a feature about it about a year ago (they tested it early in the morning, so as not to disturb the traffic here, as the roads are now open to public circulation)
Don't know where it is now, though...

But that's the 1964 championship winner, not a "sharknose".

Surtees did not join the Scuderia until '63, two years after the Sharknose. He won the WDC in '64.

I believe Chris Rea's Sharknose is not a perfect replica due to some of the original drawings having been lost over time, but it's as close as you can get to making one to the original design.

When Phill Hill came across the car at Goodwood one year he immediately knew it was a replica (From: http://www.grandprix.com/ft/ftdt033.html ) :

A few years back Hill was unexpectedly reacquainted with one at Goodwood. Deliberately set up to figure out the distinctive shape that lurked beneath a tarpaulin, his curiosity was piqued.

"Man, I figured all these had been cut up," he began as he investigated further, until his eyes told him the truth.

"It's a replica, right?" he asked, and was told that, yes, it was.

It had lovingly been created for rock star Chris Rea's rites of passage movie, La Passione. But how had Phil spotted the fake so quickly, given the amount of effort lavished upon making it as realistic as possible?

"That's easy," he chortled. "They never made them that well when they were new!"

Not very many now....mainly he's been racing a Lotus Six and (I think) a GT4 in club racing in recent years. He drove Piper's 250LM in some races in the '90s (and crashed it at Monza!) but he's not into Ferraris so much now.

The Sharknose was built from a few photos by a fellow-racer and Lotus Seven specialist, using a Fiat Dino 2.4L engine and Hewland gearbox; it was somewhat undersize, which is why the current owner has struggled to fit a genuine 120 degree engine into it. The side fuel-tanks in particular ae too slim.

The yellow Sharknose, on the other hand, is as good an exact copy as can humanly be built and has a genuine engine and gearbox; when you see it alongside British F1 cars of 1961-2 at Goodwood, the relative proportions look the same as in old photos of (for instance) Phil Hill battling with Jim Clark at Zandvoort in 1961.
