That red QV is about to come on the market for sale.

Halstead,s ex car is still white with blended flairs but never known with flush wheel covers. But anything is possible!

    Thank you very much, guys!

Actually, the green LP400S in the November 1981 issue of "Modern Motor" was when I first fell head over heels in love with the Countach - and to this day, that particular car remains number one in my affections... Dark metallic green over gold wheels with a tobacco interior; they don't come any better than that (although I'm a sucker for pearl white as well).
That magazine started a massive Countach poster and magazine collection (all long since gone now), a small handful of which I'm hoping to gradually reacquire for nostalgic reasons.

I think that Dark Green Countach is still in NZ...

Interesting... The last I knew of it was that it was still in Australia, but had been repainted (black, I think?).

When it was featured in "Modern Motor", it was supposed to have been accompanied by a black one, but "Wheels" magazine had them both first - and managed to crash the black one. I bet that wasn't one of the magazine's proudest moments...

For a short time when it was first painted white it had Alfa romeo GTV6 style flush rim faces welded onto the Simmons racing rims - I do have a pic somewhere....

You are right about the Green car, the one that went to NZ was originally a Silver S2 now red with crema.

As for the wheels article - they went off the road in the Green car the black one (5000S) was later in a fire and remains unrestored in Melbourne.

Yes you are right - for some reason early RHD QV's got the large wing. I've had 2 QV's one built mid 1985 with the large wing ( just like the red car from Motor ) and another late 85 car with the smaller wing...

    Aha, is that what happened...
My vague memory was of reading an editorial in Wheels about him (Peter Robinson), having a piece of smashed off black Countach front spoiler as an ornament on his desk - and that that was why Modern Motor only got the Green one.
Shows how reliable my memory is these days...

My notes from ages ago tell me the same, and, correct me if I am wrong, but that car was repainted in black, and is still in Australia as these pics from Ash Simmonds show.

I plan on starting a single-variant thread for the 25th Anniversario since I have so much factory, media, press, market, and image material on the Last-of-a-series car. As Emilio points out, it approaches its 20th Anniversary next year so the time is nigh. A registry of the cars, a list of all the color-types, and a list of all the differences/upgrades can be noted & logged. Not enough is known about these cars, as overlooked as they are for one reason or another, but some of us know that variant is perhaps the best-kept secret of the model. Besides, it'll be fun to do!

Same car Joe. This car was written up in both Wheels magazine and Motor Manual(no longer around sadly!

The "Wheels" article was by Peter Robinson and also involved a black Countach too!

Yes, that's what I meant, and to underscore that, you can see the AVQ.400 number plate in both images.
