    Beg to differ.

IIRC, it's his "Bambino Trust" that funds the kids - Very nice, but totally separate to what he's up to in F1 these days. I seem to recall that they've got the $, but the trust is now "closed" to further input.

    I found another article alongside your link that's pretty good and illustrates how it's possible to make money (ala Silverstone) if you get it right. In part;

    The full story; http://www.autoweek.com/article/20121219/F1/121219865

    Cheers,

What does Bernie's home(s) look like?

For some reason I could see him being slightly frugal, in a billionaire sort of way.:p

IF they actually sold all of that...and there's no doubt that there are ancillary costs that article doesn't account for.

Ian, I saw the other article too, but I am not sure I understand their math. The net could be 20 million, but this is assuming that the subsidy to cover the sanctioning fee of 25-30 million continues to be provided by the taxpayers of Texas. Without the subsidy, the race runs at a loss, I think.

I know nothing about Bernie's trust funds, and I have no reason to doubt what you are saying. I am sure if he could reverse his decision to let them have access to the money, he would. No better way to screw up your kids life than to give them hundreds of millions of dollars when they are so young. I can just imagine the Scottie Rothstein's and every other swindler on the planet waiting to pounce.

    Regards,
    Scott

    Who does? ;)

The way I read it, they could make it work even without the METF money.

But, then there's the issue of the ~$400MM construction cost!

Nor me! My only point was that his daughters insane wealth doesn't have any impact on the future of the race as you seemed to imply in the OP.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    FOM takes a cut from:

    Hospitality
    concessions
    souviners
    media

    organizer gets:
    gate
    local ad revenue
may get some % from contractors like Sodexo

typically FOM leave a scorched earth financially.

the chopper pads etc... may or may not pay, usually Allsport / FOM make it mandatory to have heli access and control space for chopper service. so doubtfull there is any added revenue, more likely this is an expense to have F-1 at your venue.

One of the articles linked above said that the $400M construction cost was already funded by other sources, although I have no idea who that may be.

I was impressed with the Tamara interview in The Ferrari Magazine, she came accross as being quite down to earth. For me personally there is nothing not to like, she is to my eyes very pretty, has a GTO and money to induldge.

    Nah;
    Just England.

'According to the papers, Mr Ecclestone told the vendor, David Khalili, a property developer, that "he was not able to convince his wife to agree to the purchase as she did not like it enough to live there". '

    Does look a little dumpy...

I always say the same thing about Tamara and Petra, but I will say it again, they are both very nice, humble people. Not at all what you would expect.

Spend 1 week in Chelsea and see the 'socialites' with money (albeit a small, tiny fraction of what these girls have) and you will see that the way they live is very subdued, and they don't deserve the rich brat label they have.

In particular Tamara is very nice and spends a considerable amount of time doing charity work, they enjoy the spoils of a wealthy family and large wealth themselves, but why shouldn't they.

That house Bernie sold years ago is 18-19 Kensington Palace Gardens, I used to live in the same street, the house is now owned by Mr Mittal (indian steel magnate) and believe me, it is HEEEEUUUUUUGGGE, the grounds are small but the house is seriously, seriously big, from memory my old house was 14,000sqft, that was 4 floors, Mittals is atleast 5 floors (including an underground carpark) and the footprint of the house is atleast 3 times mine.

Serious wealth to say no to that house and walk away from it...

I think that just being wealthy or just being related to power shouldn't subject one to public discussion. Once you do open the door, for better or for worse, you become fair game.

I find celebrity culture both boring and tawdry.

    I can +1 this,

they were pushed into making the channel 5 series 'entertaining' by the producers and such.
