Of course there are more intelligent ways to act in such situatons.

But does this allow to act in this way? Do you really think the policeman did right?

    No, I do not....

But the point is, they ARE the arbiter "of law" in the streets.....you can protest in Court later, all you wish......but you risk what that young man received, to afford them less than the respect that goes with the badge, and the gun.

You can see in the video he felt he was "an important person in an expensive car"..

Policemen do not have tons of money (although we have several Ferrari owners here in the profession) so there was a certain "attitude conflict" here in just the ticket issuance, long before the perceived slight of the tire roll occurred.

    We have a saying:

"You can beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride.." it means, you may win your day in Court, but in the meantime you will spend the night in a stinky place, painted grey....or sometimes, pale green. And it's usually an expensive visit.

    quit splitting hairs .
the driver was a jerk and in the wrong
the policeman was an authority and that was the end of the subject .
if there was argument or dispute take it to court .

This is how an outsider would view this. Here, we try to spin it as if this was some how proper policing. We're now a police state and people are still trying to argue it isn't.

    We are not splitting hairs!

Please take note that I am really shocked that this kind of acting is possible for the police in USA, maybe without consequences for them. I want to understand why you accept this. In Europe, especially in Germany we would not accept this and it would take serious consequences for the policeman. The video would be taken as the evidence and the state-authority would follow this case by themself without special order. If there would come out something against the policeman is a different question.

Please help me to understand! My picture of USA until today was another one.

    Regards - Webber 45

In Germany we call it "disproportional or unreasonable acting".

The guy did not struggle against the arresting.

I grew up outside of ny in north jersey & I would expect nothing less than what we saw from any law enforcement officer from the bergen county area of nj or nyc.
They take their jobs way too seriously. If you live there & have any brains then you avoid the avoidable. Lets just look at this guy drivn the car. Total idiot. On the flip side of it the cops a jakarse himself for very definitively placing his left foot under the left front wheel of the ferrar and edging him self in front of it . No way in hell I piss off a cop from nyc over a parking ticket. Maybe we re-open ellis island & give classes on respecting the police & listening to their every word. I have recieved hundreds of speeding tickets, parking tickets,u name it & it never ended up like that, not even close. I'd venture to bet that cop will get a commendation for bravery. You watch. Its totally a joke so play by their rules its their game.Besides, cabbys go through this all the time.If he wasnt driving a ferrari it wouldnt be news at all.

So.... if a person drives an exotic car this means that the person can be "connected" and be able to get away with anything. That's a vein and superficial view of the world my friend.....

"It’s another red-letter year for New York’s boys in blue: the New York Police Department has spent $185 million to settle lawsuits filed during fiscal year 2011.

In all, 8,882 suits were filed against the NYPD during the last fiscal year, an increase of 10 percent from the year prior. That tally also sets the record for the most claims against a single police agency filed during the last fiscal year."

I also spent some of my youth in NYC and NJ, usually being harassed by over zealous cops. Which is one of the reasons I left (aside from rude people and crappy weather).

I've been tailgated by cops in NJ until I made some 'mistake' (real or imagined). I've been 'detained' in NYC for no apparent reason.... other than being a 'kid'... and the list goes on and on.

What I saw in that video, is that cop baited the driver, moving his foot under the tire, and he was stupid enough to bite. In my experience those guys live for this kind of action, where they can exert their muscle in the limited power base that they have.

There are plenty of real bad guys out there, the nit wit in the 458 did nothing to the level of being pulled out and body slammed. However, I'm sure there were plenty of jokes around the station about how they kicked the **** out of this kid in a Ferrari.

The officers bruised hand that he is filing charges on is most likely the result of trying to punch through a 458s window. Dumbass-Red Foreman
