Haven't seen this clip before.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JB_YQ0qf0cg[/ame] Interesting to see the cues/resemblence with the G/Murci/Sesto. Sexy car imho. Lamborghini Calà, also known as the Italdesign Calà, was a concept car designed for Lamborghini by Italdesign Giugiaro. It was first shown at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show. It was a completely functional prototype that never made it into production. The Calà was designed to fill Lamborghini's need for a replacement for the Jalpa, which discontinued production in 1988 at the behest of then owners of the company, Chrysler. In 1994 Chrysler sold Lamborghini to Megatech, the Calà design took shape, but when Megatech sold Lamborghini to the Volkswagen Group in 1998, the concept was shelved. The Jalpa replacement would not be found in Lamborghini's lineup until 2003, with the release of the Lamborghini Gallardo. The Calà was powered by a mid-mounted V10 engine, which produced 400 hp (300 kW), mated to a 6-speed transmission that drove the rear wheels. Top speed was estimated at 181 mph (291 km/h).
Thank you so much for posting that, I've been collecting old Top Gear footage for a while and hadn't seen that show yet. It's amazing how much of the Gallardo you can see in the Cala.
It is from Top Gear. Tiff Needell used to be a presenter of Top Gear before he presented 5th Gear, as was Vicki Butler Henderson.
I wish lamborghini built the Cala. Id probably be in the market for one today. It would have been perfect to go smoke all those lil scions and civics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRWEVkgPPFc
No indeed, I was referring to the fact that he was on Old Top Gear. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkWHG-Vqrv8[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB35XaoOcSQ[/ame] Obviously, he was 12 years old at the time...
Sorry, couldn't disagree more. I far prefer the gallardo to this. Thats no criticism of you, just my taste is different. Considering this was a V10 it might be considered part of the process that lead to the gallardo but looks nothing like the gallardo. I wonder what that means to all those that think Sesto is a clue to the Gallardo replacement. Wouldn't be surprised if Lamborghini blindside everyone with something totally left field.
I agree. I absolutely loved the Cala when it was first shown, but now it leaves something to be desired.
