Nice, thanks! I would go for the more saturated blue when doing new carpets, the other one looks slightly washed out, maybe due to usage? The black/blue i have seen looks like the more saturated one. So now we are only missing a black/red one, anyone having this type of carpet?
The difference in the trunk carpet between US & Euro is depth of the trunk. US cars had a different exhaust system, different bumpers, and the addition of the mandated bumper shocks that would have raised the trunk floor a couple inches at least. US cars would have had holes cut in the carpet for the rear side markers that a Euro car wouldn't have had either. Greetings to Al and Rob G.
O then I would wait to see what Adrian can come up with because I think all most all the GT4's can use some or all new trunk carpet. Except for the couple of cars like Roberts that look as new. Is your trunk a euro or us Al
This is not very clear but 10012 looks to have the original pattern in black on black? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes I think it was dyed all black due to stains which is common on the GT4 Yes a group buy would be the way to go . I'm in for 5 Euro trunk carpets Al
Thanks, good input! So just a bit less material than for the Euro version. My ideal scenario is that i can come up with a manufacturer who creates beige/tan/blue carpets after our specification and then sells the carpet by the meter/roll to everyone interested. Will also talk to one of the Dino parts suppliers for offering full sets if the carpet reproduction works out. The european trunk requires about 2.7sqm, so depending on the width of the production one needs about 3 sqm of material to create a carpet set. The first manufacturer we discussed this with quoted an approximate price of around 100 per square meter, i'll check with at least two other manufacturers if this is realistic or can be made a bit cheaper but keep in mind that we ask for a really small amount of carpet for which the manufacturer has to custom produce the thread and dyes and then set up the exact weave.
This is a great initiative, thanks for your efforts. My father's blue Euro Dino might also need a new set.
I have reference samples for the production in black/tan (thanks Fave) and black/blue, but am missing black/beige, which is probably the most common color combination. The weaving pattern was slightly different between the years but that is not something you would see without a magnifier, so i will aim for the straight pattern shown in the black/tan example. Could anyone please send me a small black/beige sample, like 10x10 cm and ideally NOS or in a very good/clean condition? No one seems to have black/red so i am ignoring that color combination for now. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd guess mine was the most common. It was a bit dirty when I got the car and foolishly discarded it. I recall that it was the black / beige as seen here. Whoever can help source this: Will you get material to do the job, or will you have it cut and serged to make up carpet kits? Thanks again!
I have been told this was a bertone supplied item and possibly in some period lamborghini. Can't verify this but just wanted to pass this along
Are the carpet folks able to work with the original material? It looks (to me) like sisal or hemp rope material, as opposed to the more traditional carpet materials like wool or polyester.
Yes, it is quite likely jute. Sisal and coconut fibre are too rough, and wool is a bit too fine. We have send a sample to two manufacturers for checking out the exact material and thread but won't get a result until mid of january.
When I was hunting this stuff down in textile stores I asked one old man what it was and he told me was jute. He been around for a while so I figure he know what he was talking about.
