May its time to get a list of Buyers for this run of carpet and will you sell it precut in USA and Euro Trunk size. I think it would save $ in Bulk and the trim & binding could be done by any good trim shop or even some of our owners are good a trim work. What ever you go I'm In !

What color?

 

I'd go for one set of Black/Beige U.S. version car. Bulk Material preferred, but still interested in pre-cut.

As for the the black vinyl serging around the border?? I guess bulk is NO, but if were pre-cut?? I'm fine either way.

ALSO - The "LAY", or "Grain" direction. From pix, it looks like the fibers are perpendicular to the trunks length or long direction.

I want to first make sure that the carpets can be produced in the original quality and for a good price before getting a list of buyers, don't want to raise expectations at this point.

My goal is to find a manufacturer which directly sells bulk ware to anyone intereted (e.g. by the meter/roll) and to have a parts dealer or two which offer complete sets of carpets. Talked to Colin at Superformance and he was interested.

2Dinos, pre cut should be an option which the carpet manufacturer should be able to offer, i'll keep that in mind.

Still looking for a Black/Beige sample, anyone?

This turned out to be surprisingly difficult, we've talked/mailed with 36 German/Austrian carpet manufacturers in the last 3 months, most of them don't have the machinery anymore to produce the weave pattern we need for the original carpet. We have received preproduction samples from some of the manufacturers based on our sample, but all were unfortunately incorrect. See below for nearly correct colors and material but wrong pattern. One of the manufacturers said that he was able to reproduce the carpet but the minimum job volume was around $50K-75K.

We'll now be looking for manufacturers within the EU with a focus on italy, turkey and great britain, hopefully we have a bit more luck then.

Its a shame ferrari does not take more interest in this. I am still interested. Mine is in good shape but the firewall piece has some water staining. I am scared to try to clean it My luck it would probably come clean after all these years scared to touch it. I think the best way to get a smaple is out of a parts car. I am embarrassed not to send you a piece but there is no extra buts I can find anywhere without leaving a hole....

Do you know how hard it was to find it for the 1/8scale model!!!!

He doesn't need any sample, I sent him one... I think that is it in the left picture.
I have some contacts in China I am going to be contacting to see if I can find someone who can produce this. I'm sure Adrian's contacts are much better, but at those costs, maybe it might be worth the look.

 

Not China, try India. They do textile and carpet weaving all the time and they deal with jute.

Actually I do but they work in metal. I'll ask.

 

A frien of mine is doing a textile thing in India right now- Let me email her some photos of my GT4 carpet and see what she can turn up.

I don't need any for my car but I imagine there is a little bit of a market for this.

 

I can provide an original NOS sample if needed.

 

Has anyone created drawings outlining the dimensions for these trunk carpet sets?

 

A quick update, we have contacted two small carpet manufacturers in turkey via a local carpet dealer and are waiting for samples. I had no idea that the carpet would turn out even more difficult than sourcing a 308 GT4 rear light...

Dave, i was waiting with the outlines until we have a source for new carpets. A friend has an EU GT4 with original carpets which i could use as reference for the outlines.

 

Not sure if I marked myself down for some replacement carpet...

Would someone kindly measure their US version 308 gt4 trunk carpet set for me. I have a guy who is producing the EU version but doesn't have any US templates and they are clearly different. My trunk set is missing and i'm in desperate need to have something. And or maybe someone has a used and abused set they would be willing to pass onto me. Thanks for your help
