Sorry to disappoint but this thread isn’t what you were thinking.

Now that we finally got some snow this winter I decided it was time to cover the girl up and let her get some rest.

For those of you that also let your girl sleep most of the winter what sinister things do you have planned for her?

    Here is my list:
    • Buy her some new rubber shoes
    • Finish HID headlight install
    • Oil change
    • Recover dash plus add some accent color to interior

    List of maybes:
    • Remove and refinish door sill plates, maybe carbon fiber
    • If some Stoptech brakes fall from the sky I will install them

I am currently, as in I am in the middle of 11 days off work specifically to work on the 355, doing the following to my baby.

    1. SRI gold connector kit install.
    2. Per Goth's recommendation: Thermostate and both coolent temp sensor replacement.
    3. New throttle cable as the current is frayed at the throttle linkage.
    4. Shock actuator rebuild with Captain Z.
    5. New shock gears for the shock actuators.
    6. Getting backup key cut as I only got 1 when I bought it.
    7. New rubber flapper for the gas cap.
    8. Fixing the froze bypass valve actuator. A little WD40 and car battery to exercise the valve worked great.
    9. Replacing the Secodary Air Injection pump's air filter as I was blowing fuses on it. Boy was the filter dirty! Chalk that one up to the huge list of "What was Ferrari thinking!" when they placed that pump where they did.

If I have time I will look into installing some speakers (per the wife's request) and get started on sticky parts.

Yeah, I've been busy! Best. Vacation. Ever.

#7. Mine has the rubber flapper and I was thinking that it was an aftermarket item since my friends 360 doesn't have one. Guess I was wrong.

#8. How do you use a car battery and WD40 to exercise the bypass valve?

The rubber flapper is OEM as you now know. It is pretty pricy for a piece of rubber but I found a source that was charging a little under $40 so I went for it. Mine is nearly 2 pieces now from being folded in half so many times.

The actuator valve is pretty easy to fix. I just removed it from the car, which is the hardest part, and took a car battery out of one of my other cars for a power source. There are two prongs on the valve and you just supply + and - to them. Spray some WD 40 into the valve and just keep applying 12v and removing it over and over again. The WD40 soaks in and the valve will start clicking again in no time.

Since the bypass valve is vacuum operated I'm guessing you must be talking about some sort of actuator that controls the vacuum feed to the bypass valve itself?

Yes, sorry for the confusion. The actuator allows vacuum to get to the valve when the ECU provides 12v power. The actuator is what froze up.

What are the symptoms of a frozen actuator or bypass valve?

Not really a winter here but during some downtime need to drop another cleaned up engine cradle along with the main service.
Whatever else needed along that line
New bushings all around, springs, shocks rebuilt

Also adding a challenge wing, challenge wheels in white and a mess of strobes, going to make it a bit ricier I mean racier as I will use it at a few drift races as a pace/marshals car car.

Who knows what else, I have a pile of stuff and whatever they put on it's cool with me

Next year maybe paint and a new interior, I am digging a white leather interior maybe with cow spots :)

Exhaust bypass valve never opens. If it has never been opening in your ownership you may not even realize it. If you are used to it opening and is suddenly stops you notice right away because that awsome F1 sound is suddenly gone.

I have a Tubi exhaust installed and always, "thought", that my car had the F1 sound, but perhaps there's yet more awesomeness to be had. Still a relative novice when it comes to working on my car (although I've managed to fix everything thus far). Anyone have a diagram and can point out where the valve/actuator is located? Thanks guys, Henry

Do you notice a drastic change in exhaust volume and tone when you are flooring it from low RPM's to high? If not, it probably isn't opening. The change is not gradual. It is like an on off switch. If the valve isn't opening you will also get the check engine light for the exhaust bypass.

I can't hear mine open with the stock exhaust although when I had the capristo 3 installed it was very easy to hear it open. Like you said it was the difference between on and off.
I wonder if the stock muffler is any different depending on the year of car? I know my bypass valve is working but I can't hear any change.

Just got done replacing the filter on the Secondary Air Injection Pump. I used the filter element from and stove overhead fan. Just bought a generic one at Lowes and tore the frame off it to get to the filter element and cut it to fit.

I also just got done putting the now functioning bypass valve actuator and tighting up all the exhaust components.

I'm about half way through the SRI Gold Kit install. The install is very time consuming but the quality of the kit is obvious when installing. Can't wait to see how it runs once complete.

Love to here some long term users on the gold kit chime in. I seem to be chasing the same connections every few months. MAP and 02 wiring and I am in sunny So Cal with no rain

No I dont. Would love to here some long tern users tell us like it is.

I dont have major issues but I can notice when the connections start corroding. I just cleaned and used detox connection enhancer to the map sensor this week. My idle was a bit inconsistent and cleaning it gives it a band-aid fix.

I did the gold kit about a year ago. Between that and new O2 sensors haven't had any warning lights or drivability issues since. It is a laborious ordeal to install, but if you're having gremlins, it's worth doing. It certainly would be easier to do if your engine is out for service. Interestingly, when clipping those wires to the plugs I was dismayed to find many of the wires themselves to be black with corrosion rather than shiny copper. Had to trim back 'till real copper found, or brush clean with wire brush provided in the kit. Don't know what the hell kind of crappy wire and connectors Ferrari was using at the time. Must have been sourced from Joe's Scrapyard.

The car doesn't sleep. Cold weather will not destroy it. Went for a few top down drives recently.
