Just realised that there's no Porsche on yesterday's outing. What i like about our group is the diverse models, brands, age & of course colours.

I thought Tim's car has always been the one with the sickest notes coming out the back, no?
I did a search on 355 prices in Malaysia, and if you can buy a brand new 3 series beemer here, you'd be paying the same price for a good 355. Keeping it in shape would be the only problem I guess..

They're quite a steal in KL now. Under Rm300K easily for a nice 355 which is just a tad over S$100K now. Maintenance is a pain though.

Strange. Saw a yellow Seremban N plate in Katong yesterday & then SCH78 red one just now. Nice clean look & they're so cute, so small compared to 997s

Hahaha, not a fan of the 3 series to begin with :p
Don't worry King, looong way to go, but I'm a man of my word :)
Yeah, my point exactly. Are there many private garages in KL that take on 355's and older cars of the like under their care? I mean, since warranty will be a long gone factor, I'm guessing there should be a handful of workshops that can carry out maintenance right? Of course, parts would be expensive, but apart from that, is there a big difference in terms of labour charges etc between the official distributors and others?

The beauty aboout the air flow top down is that you can hold a conversation till about 180 as long as windows are up. After that the howling engine and ensuing typhoon in the cabin means all hell breaks loose.

Indy workshops charge about 1/2 of the distributor for labour. The downside of a F355 is not the reliabilty but the cost when anything needs replacement. And may the Lord help you if it involves pulling the engine out :D

But honestly there is no more depreciation so that area already more than offsets the repair/maintenance costs. Generally if you treat the car well and drive it often enough, it is very reliable. It is the garage queens that will give you problems.

There are quite a few if you trust them & importing parts into Malaysia is always a PITA cos officially they can tax you up to 200%!

The problem is you cannot get comprehensive insurance & loan is not very possible so where to find people willing to fork out Rm300K cash to buy an old Ferrari? Speaking of that, I vaguely remember that a 348 was asking for Rm100K few months ago. That's like S$40K for a mid-engine V8 Ferrari. Sh*t, well. My 456GT isn't too far either....

Maybe I should just cut it up to make some couch for my house, the beige leather is afterall Conolly or Frau & the V12 serves as my table to shake leg

Ah ok. The thing is, I've got a long time to go before I can even start to consider maintaining one, and the 355 has always been a head turner, well for me at least. I guess taking out the engine in an old Italian is nowhere as easy as they make it seem on TV eh. You know when you watch those car restoration shows and they just jack the engines in and out without a problem, I've always wondered how they manage to do it in one go without any problems.. :D

Look at this F355 Berlinetta for example. Some might like it, some might cringe. I personally think it looks rather unique, haha..

Ahh, Malaysia, its always a matter of who you know isn't it :(
Actually there was a yellow F355 Berlinetta on sale some time back, and the dealer was asking for cash, just like you mentioned. The thing actually sold in less than 2 weeks, I was like, whoaa. At first I was kinda skeptical, thinking who would actually fork out that much cash at one go, but I was proven wrong I guess..:D

Ooh, I wonder if its worth more if you dissect it and sell it for parts. Rims as side tables, and the big block would make an excellent coffee table cum conversation piece. Haha
