My daily driver for the past 3 years has been a meteor grey Audi, which is a terrific car in every way except that the color puts me to sleep whenever I walk up to it. On one hand this is bad because Audi-color-palette-induced narcolepsy in parking lots is dangerous, but OTOH I've never been pulled over in this car. Maybe the CHP fall asleep when I go by. It has to be the next best thing to a cloaking device. Industrial Light & Magic calls me weekly asking me how it's possible.

Now I'm thinking of ordering a new Cayman, playing with the configurator, and the car looks best in red or, especially, yellow. By good I mean, really good in the way the 355 did in yellow. Like the car was designed around that color. But I have dreams of my driver's license going into a shredder and Ponch and John in my rear view mirror on a daily basis.

Anyone daily drive a red or yellow Porsche without being singled out in traffic for doing 66 in a 65 zone?

Talk me out of it. Agate grey is looking good.

Does Porsche offer Triple Yellow? That would be the only reason I can think of for talking you out of a color you seem to love.

Enjoy the car, and consider getting a driver's license in a different state (there's a tax free one not too far from you, isn't there?)

I DD-ed a red Alfa for years and didn't have a problem. Currently DD a black Porsche, again, without an issue.

I'd say get the yellow Cayman and enjoy. You don't strike me as someone who turns off their brain when they drive, so you'll be fine.

Life's too short for boring grey cars

Porsche inspects your checkbook and then offers whatever will eliminate the balance in it.

I have a fayence yellow cgt, and while I don't drive it daily, I have never been singled out by a LEO for going slightly over the speed limit.

From what I hear, the new Cayman is outstanding! Do it!

You do not need this car in yellow. You will get tired of yellow.

You need this car in Silver over Black leather, with a 3 pedal manual transmission and the S engine.

I daily drove a yellow 911 for years.
An Orange 914 daily driver before that.
Only once did Johnny Law single me out.

You get used to the looks after awhile.
I can drive anything now without being self conscious.
But I'm open to acid test the theory in a Mclaren Orange F1.

Yes, silver is a little boring but sure looks great especially for the long haul. Yellow is one of the worst resale if you're looking for a good reason not to?

Guards Red 987.1 Cayman here and it might be considered a red Beetle for the lack of attention it has generated in 3 years of ownership. My wife and I love this car but we're excited to see the new Cayman in the flesh. The subtle changes are really nice.

You know you want it...just do it!

Speed Yellow? One of my favorite Porsche colors....would love to have a 928 GTS in that color.

I think you'll get tired of yellow, not bored but tired. It's definitely an in your face color. I think the new cayman looks awesome in silver. White on beige would also suit that car well. My favorite combo for almost any car is black on cinnamon/baseball glove(BMW calls it that) It provides a very rich look to a car.

You thinking of a black interior if you go for the yellow?

If ya really want the yellow go for it. No question. I agree that resale will be affected a bit, but don't let that get in your way. Buy what you want, but make sure that your not just choosing a color that's drastically different than grey.

Yellow seems to be the color they've picked for ads. None of the color choices really seem to be extraordinary. You might was well go with "midlife crisis yellow."

I definitely like the changes, especially the nose/headlamps and sculpted doors.

Guards red might work. Assertive, but not an "in your face color".

Yes, I'd do a black interior with the racing yellow exterior.

Too bad you can't get a subtle color...... like orange!

I don't daily drive it though, so I guess it does't really count. I think yellow would be great. Too many people go with the safe choice. I say be bold!

For the times that you want to "stretch the boundaries" of restrictive speed limits, it's nice to be able to "fly under the radar" with a less raucous color. "nuff said, eh?

I think Silver and red with red top on the boxster is the bomb - probably why it's their press car colors.

I like yellow and tan on the new cayman though - their press car colors.

Are they ever wrong on the roll out colors?

    Go for it!

I see no reason to talk you out of yellow. That's the color I'd pick!

P.S. My recent colors on Porsches and Ferraris have been red, yellow, and orange.
