You took the words out of my mouth. When one spends $5K on a suit, it certainly looks as beautiful as it feels and functions. Same with $1200 shoes. I think MacDennis took the easy way out and basically decided not to risk a design "yawn" like the MP-4. Just let the wind tunnel do it and talk incessantly about how everything has "a purpose" and "a function". We'll see. I don't care for the looks but I like it infinitely more than the Veyron. Maybe in motion with the spoiler up it will look less cartoon-like. Forza, Ferrari
I just watched a few clips of one of the mules and it sounds like an Aston V8 Vantage. Very disappointing for that money. We'll see. Maybe at 9000 rpms it will sound right. lol Forza, Cavallini
I have to believe that there will be few glitches once they release 918 to the public. I love the effort they put into these programs. The only downside to 918 is weight. Hard to ignore if you plan to spend a lot of time at road tracks. Other than that, this car is a showcase.
This was designed in the aero tunel, and with only performance and efficency in mind... Can't tell me it doesn't look gorgeus... It only depends on who does the design... Oh and BTW it's 14 years old and would eat the McLarten, Ferrari and the porsche 918 fr breakfest... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mmmm....... You appear to have missed off the: "So there!", at the end of you sentece Luckily enough, My Dad's bigger than your Dad so I can tell you where you've gone wrong!
It looks great for a specific class of racer and actually has better proportions than the P1. I wonder why? Maybe because it's a homologated road car that already has handsome, if understated, proportions. Correct me if I'm wrong. Your point? My point remains the same. Without proportion from someone'e hand, there is no beauty. You'd be better off making the "wind-tunnel" point with an F1 car. They're easily the most beautiful cars around and they are the extreme of wind tunnel design for speed, handling, agility and all the aerodynamic efficiencies. But we're not talking about race-cars, are we? Furthermore, if the wind tunnel designed every car they'd all look the same. Bottom line is Mclaren somehow managed to miss the mark.....AGAIN. The mark being an exquisite automobile, in every way. They talk about passion in one breath then about efficiency and the wind tunnel in the next then the car sounds like a $100k Aston.... As I said, maybe when it's on the road with the spoiler up in a legit color, and I can see or eventually experience all the KERS and downforce effects, I'll love it. But I'm not holding my breath, especially not when I can't stand to look at the damn thing right now. Forza, Cavallini
Yup, designed in a wind tunnel ~yes, it is one of my favorite race cars still Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sure, the F150, P1 and 918 are not capable of flying like the 911 GT1. Porsche is convinced the batteries' weight will keep the 918 on the road.
I wouldn't say that. Catch a small hill, or a big hill with a changing vector at takeoff speeds, and tell me what happens Remind me what happened with the Erikson Enzo
That was in a public road and the Enzo actually hit a bump going over a crest. Totally different conditions.
Yes, clear, I'm physicist, but the Porsche and Mercedes GT1 flights were caused by the unstable aerodynamics with long front overhang and flat underfloor - a result of the technical regulations.
So are you trying to say I'm wrong? Armchair says you are just saying I'm right. A vector is simply a direction of motion, and speed associated with it. Change the vector of the car to the angle of the road, and see what happens. There is an angle of attack that is created above neutral, or negative balanced. Thus, taking off.
Too bad this forum has no emoticons... A car flying on its own and one heating a bump first are the same things then. Good thinking!
The new Lambo model that will celebrate their 50th anniversary won't be a match for the F70 or the P1. It might however challenge the 918, since that's so heavy.
that's just a guess... you don't know that, in my opinion lamborghini never tried to be faster than ferrari around a track, it's not what they do. I'm sure if they wanted to build something with a faster lap time they could, not to mention that they can probably tap into VW, Bugatti and Audi tech too.
