144 sounds too low for total production; maybe only that many with a stick shift?

Maybe that or that's how many Lingenfelter have tuned.
Maybe Isaac would have a better idea.

    maybe.

though IIRC the CTS-V wagon is GM's lowest volume car, so still a rare bird.

I've read that about 80% of the total V production are automatics.

Thought you would like that. :)

Any chance you can get your hands on the V wagon production numbers to-date? I did a bit of Googling prompted by the "144" that Chas heard but I didn't come across any data. I'd love to see the breakdown by transmission.

IIRC in an early article it was mentioned that they only had to build ~ 20 a year to break even because it was such a relatively inexpensive extension of the model range to develop/build. Hopefully that continues!

    EDIT...

Found a reference to the break even production, http://www.edmunds.com/cadillac/cts-v-wagon/2011/road-test.html.

My recollection was off only by ~ 50%. :D

    good question......
Cadillac doesn't break out sales #'s by coupe/sedan/wagon/V
but internally I'm sure they know EXACTLY how many they've sold
I'll ask several of my pals
IIRC,the Coupe was running @ 20% of total CTS sales
    the wagon........not so much...:(
    ultimately,the planners/marketing people WERE right.....Americans just don't buy wagons

    V#'s i can't recall

Did I read somewhere that they're discontinuing the wagon with the next generation of CTS? I hope not, the V-Wagon is on my short list for next DD.

I recently (December) had the opportunity to drive the CTS-V Wagon 5 speed and the 302-powered 5 speed Ford Fairmont Wagon 24 Hours of LeMons car on consecutive days, the Caddy at Circuit of the Americas (Cadillac marketing event), and the Fairmont Wagon at Texas World Speedway (ChumpCar 7 hr endurance race).

I wonder if that makes me the first person to ever drive different 5 speed wagons on different road course tracks on consecutive days? :)

Pictures not in consecutive order, sorry.

And in case I hadn't posted it in this thread yet, Here's a year and a half old in-car video of me in the Fairmont Wagon in an 18 hr endurance race as night falls on the track.

Although I prefer the looks of the regular sedan E39 M5, this E39 M5T looks pretty nice. Owned by someone in Georgia. He bought it from a BMW tech that made it around 2000/2001. Got a 525 (or 528T) brand new and bought a salvaged E39 M5 and swapped over a lot of the parts. The interior needed work when the new guy bought it so he upgraded that a lot. Stuff like a complete alcantara headliner as well as reupholstered the rear bench seat to match the front M5 seats while maintaining rear-fold capability.

I'd love to make an E39 M5T one day, but by the time I have the time and money for it, all the surviving 5-wagons and E39 M5s will be worn out and not worth it. :(

I will be posting some new pictures of my E61 soon (aka, the murder wagon) once some body work is done.

The closest thing you can get to an M5 wagon in the US without an engine swap.
