Has anyone successfully added a clearcoat to the finished paint? I painted two of my keys (rustoleum white primer + red paint) and they turned out great. I let them dry overnight and tried to spray the clear coat on one of them this morning and it wrinkled up, ruining the finish. (going to have to start from scratch on that key) The instructions said either apply the clear coat within 1 hour of the final coat of paint or after 48 hours. Well I picked somewhere in the middle and went with 24 hours and ruined it as a result. I'm afraid now of applying it to the second key for fear of messing that one up. I'll surely wait the full 48 hours, but even then I'm skeptical. Just wondering if anyone has done it successfully?
I had to jump on this bandwagon. Did my key yellow to match the car. Going to touch up a bit today and add more clear on top. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What do you use to get that glossy finish without any texture on it? With the help of a friend managed to paint it yesterday to match the color of the 360. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Everyone, Inspired by this thread I decided to get my keys painted. But what color would be the best? My car is red, but is red color a bit too much? And black is a little borring? BTW it will be painted Friday
Planning to paint both my Ferrari keys. But I'm missing the little chrome horse that was glued on originally. Does anybody know where I can get two of these little horses?
Anyone purchased any of these (not original but looks like the real thing)? Alan Ferrari Enzo Style Uncut Blank Key 512 348 355 360 Testarossa | eBay
I bought one and had the key cut. Its awesome. Eventually ill replace the original key so both are enzo style keys.
No, but they are similar. Ferrari used to sell an Enzo style key blank, the same as that came with the CS's. It came in a red box (see picture below). They also sold the exact same thing with the key pre-cut as a souvenir. With a little work you can replace the key blank in the pre-cut version. Many threads on this subject. Anyway, I think they both originally retailed at around $200. You can still find the Enzo blanks advertised at, ehhhm, really high prices. You can also find the cut versions of the "Enzo Key" on ebay. Look for the red box. Image Unavailable, Please Login
BTW is the four digit number on the metal tag attached to my red fob a means of getting new keys from the dealer if by some chance you lose both of yours? Thanks Alan Oh this for $900 yikes. Ferrari Enzo Key Original Uncut Unaltered Blade 360 F355 550 575M 456 Laferrari | eBay
I found mine at ebay.com. Search for the small cavallino rampantes the goes on the diecast modelles 1:8. Didn`t find the link to the shop I bought it from- sorry.
These should fit. They are the 1/8 measuring 9/16" tall by 3/8" wide which is exactly what my key measures. Pocher 1 8 Ferrari Cavallino Chrome Metal Horse Emblem Badge F40 | eBay
If your key is the same as mine it's aluminum. So sand all the old paint off and get a nice smooth finish. Make sure you use Krylon etching primer -- a thin coat is enough as it will bond to the key and provide a good base for the finish coats (thin) of Krylon in your chosen color. Alan
When I bought my car the horse emblem was already gone. Any idea where you could get a new one. It is gone in both keys.
where to get cavallino: see 3 posts above. Everyone says glue the horse. What glue??? My key is now krylon'd and i have a pocher horsey but don't know what glue to buy. Any hints?
+1 that's what I used but I did scape off the paint in the recess so the horse would bond to the aluminum. Have not had any issues. Alan
