    This is my first video tutorial on how to identify parts, and reassembly, of a 308 cv joint. And like the video states near the end, " and hopefully,I haven't made an ass of myself?"

    John, you did a great job. Next could you do changing the seals on a distributer or fixing the window that does not want to go up? How about changing the bezels on the on the center consol? Then how about………………….

    John, this is a well planned and clearly presented tutorial. I hope you do many more as I am a 328 neophyte (sp?) and I attempt as many repairs as possible with rather limited experience. Well done.

    Thanks for all the support about my video. I'm actually going to do a Part 2 of this topic by showing how to apply grease, rubber boots, and secured bands. Stay tuned...

    It's a perfect tutorial, perfectly delivered in just enough detail. Even if I tend to get this sort of work done at my local specialist, I still learn a lot watching this sort of stuff. More please!

    When is it time to do this and can I do it with out having to buy replacement cv parts. 1979 308 gts 20,000 miles. I was thinking of just taking mine apart and regreesing?

    it would not be a wise move to try and save the boots...

    Assuming your joints are ok (and they likely are), all you need are the boots, clamps and grease. Clamps and grease, nothing special about those, and the boots are common to the 911 Turbo of the same era ($5 a piece at Pelican Parts). All in all a very low cost job. I never fully dissasembled mine, just dipped in gasoline and wiggled them around until there were squeaky clean.

    Great video! I also suggest replacing the bolts and castle nuts, they are not expensive and tend to rust easily. I also had excellent results with Redline high pressure grease, on one joint that did not have a leak from the GB the grease was still red!

    Many have said this was a chore but I found this one of the easier and more fun if messy service procedures!

    I agree with changing the bolts and castle nuts. I am doing just that. I ordered a set of 24 of each item from Superformance UK.
    I also ordered the cv boot kit from them. The only item I'm not using from the kit are the bands that came equipped in the kit. I found that the overall width of the bands were too narrow for my visual liking. I found a replacement set from a local auto hardware store to my liking for a very low price.
    But the rubber boots are a perfect fit/look. So if any of you are undecided on purchasing the cv boot kit from Superformance, don't be. The price is great. Go for it.
    I'll be posting part 2 video of the cv rebuild sometime in the next 24-48 hours. Just in time for you weekend warriors.

    Yes it will be. I definitely don't want to ruin my camera. My video will be shot with my iphone5.
