    I received a call from a friend of mine today, that told me his wife has an app for her I phone, that lets her see everyone of his texts, emails, web searches, and listen to any call he makes on his I phone. She has walked out on him due to some of the context of his texts, emails etc.. Is this a true app? and if so can anyone just get this or do this. My wife and I have a bundled set of I phones, and she controls the accounts and settings. I'm not planning on doing all sorts of naughty things, but I do think that everyone deserves a bit of privacy. Can she just call and set this up? Can I protect my phone from this type of invasive app? Thanks

    Most MDM packages used by corporate IT departments provide this functionality and much more. Apps like MobiStealth also allow such monitoring.

    Yep. Stuff like this has been around long before the iPhone too. Lots of monitoring software... you know... for "parents".

    The bigger problem is does this guy really want to be married to a wife that would spy on him like that? Sounds like he's better off.

    short answer, yes to all the above, and then some. Its not just a phone but a computer, which can be rooted, jacked, spoofed, etc.

    No, not unless you have jailbroken your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Many, many people jailbreak their device so they can;
    1. Get free apps
    2. Get free music
    3. Be able to use apps that Apple does not allow

    ***BUT once you jailbreak, you are removing apples security and thus any app you download, mole wacker, angry whatevers, or a workout tracking app, ANY APP, can;

    a. Keylog
    b. Access your GPS location
    c. Watch your texts
    d. Look at your Pics
    e. Watch you on the cameras!
    f. Listen to you via the microphone
    g. Access your contacts
    h. Wipe out your phone (rare)
    i. keylog your bank logon info (very bad)

    Summary: You can be tracked by GPS location easily, but the bad things listed above are for jailbroken devices.

    She can track the device using ATTs service or MobileMe / iCloud (Apple). By track I mean be able to determine its GPS location.

    Go to SETTINGS -> iCloud -> Find My Phone and make sure it is OFF, or you can be tracked by anyone who knows your Apple user/password.

    She can see what numbers you have texted and called, incoming and outgoing (ATT Bill)

    If she installs "Find My Friends" or a similar app on your device, she can track your location.

    Go to SETTINGS -> Privacy -> Location Services -> These are all the apps that have "permission" to track you. If the GPS icon is Purple, you are being tracked right now. Read the "key" at the bottom. Switch OFF apps that you do not want to be able to track you. If the CAMERA is allowed to track you, then all images will be tagged with your GPS location. *This is what got Mcafee caught.

    1. Dont jailbreak.
    2. Check your ATT bill and make sure tracking is not enabled
    3. Check your device settings and make sure iCloud does not have permission to track your device.

    Summary:
    You can not have a relationship without trust. Its sad we have to have this type of conversation.

    *Disclaimer: I dont know everything

    **I am an apple developer and know the rules and limitations quite well.

    Wow this beyond crazy!

    For any device, droid or iphone............
    Is there a way to know if someone has remotely monitered my phone, deleted some contacts and texts, ect..

    Is there a way to counter act this, or block them? ***Trent, I saw your previous answers, but what if I use my phones gps feature and want 911 location ect...?

    If a new device is bought how can it be protected?

    Should I NOT pay bills via a phone app?
