Your best option might be to find one at a dealership and trade in your scud, assuming you are happy with the trade in value.

    Good luck!

Well, I would but generally the pricing is better private party. The difference would probably be greater than the wholesale on my Scud and the retail value, considering the much higher valuation of the F40.

Sell your scud privately and then buy an F40 with the proceeds plus cash. There are only 1300 odd F40's, I very much doubt any of those owners are looking to part ex into a Scud. Most onwers would just go out and buy one. You could be waiting a long time. Meanwhile, your scud is going down in value and F40's are going up. Don't waste anymore time!

I think most F40 owners, regardless of whether or not they would trade cars with you, wouldn't give you more than a wholesale valuation on a Scud, anyway. The price trends are in opposite directions so you need a special circumstance. In the US there are roughly 150 F40's, I believe. I don't think that the markets for the two are all that compatible in that the guys who like F40's and Scuds have both, and probably would not give up an F40 for a Scud.

Exactly. Plus I don't think that F40's will trade through dealers for much longer. Many of the ones I know about trade very privately and through people like Joe, and I think that it won't be long for that's just about the only way they sell.

Yes, I think over 75% (perhaps more) of all F40s change hands this way currently, going from one enthusiast owner to another.

As just one F40 owner, I am afraid I have no interest in parting with it in part for a Scud; they are just different animals. Now if you could set up a deal through a dealer, that has some merit due to sales tax savings, but I doubt the F40 owner will be the Scud's new owner in that arrangement.

You never, know, however. I have met an F40 owner who hated the car; problem is he wanted a more modern car like a 458 or Aventador.

After watching Dinos go to over $400K, either a big market correction on them is coming or the F40 is headed for 7 figures. Unlike a modern Ferrari, I think the F40 can be a legitimate investment with tangilbe benefits that for me more than offset the storage, maintenance and insurance costs.

+1 what had already been said, no interest. Sell the scud and hookup with someone like Joe who can find you a good private party car. Good luck and get one as soon as you can!!

I hope you are right....1300 plus floating around doesn't help though.

While it's unlikely an F40 owner is looking for a trade you never know.. costs nothing to ask. Good luck on the hunt!

True, but only 211 US models and the US v. Euro difference is non-trivial. Time will tell. I do think a decent F40 under $500K is a thing of the past
