I have seen a 2004 360 Spider in Dubai that I like. I want to import it to the US. Does anyone know the process and what modifications are needed? A few other threads mention that if they are US spec cars, importing is easy, but what about Gulf Spec cars?

Generally, cars that are delivered to Dubai are US spec. They have US VINs, etc.

Just as a FYI, I would seriously reconsider buying from Dubai (even though car prices are pretty low now). I lived and grew up in Dubai and raced a lot of cars for the Emirati nationals. I hate to make generalizations but they usually treat cars as throwaway items. They don't care about clutch wear, red lining when shifting, hard braking, etc.

I have been in many underground races where F-cars were totaled or at least very seriously damaged. These were then sent to dubious repair shops that made them "almost new". Since there aren't any authoritative sources like CarFax or Autocheck in the UAE, you're never going to know until you buy it (or have a PPI done).

    My 2c. Good luck.

good advise. the price would have to be incredible low to make me consider. i actually found a car at one point that i was considering bringing over but it wasn't US spec so legally getting it here was impossible without spending a fortune.

I'm aware of the abuse that the cars may have received. I'm looking for a car to restore thoroughly and have budgeted $50k+. From what I understand, if the eighth letter in the VIN is "A" it's US spec, and "T" is Gulf spec. I will go in person to inspect the car and VIN.

    What is the paperwork involved?
