    A fine guess, for sure. But I'm a Lavazza super-automatic espresso guy --- so the idea of tamping is too labor-intensive for me!

    Knowing David it is probably something extraordinary in its simplicity and design, yet massively useful to the F-Car mechanic to avoid expensive "oops" situations.

    We'll all wonder why we didn't think of it first... :D

    Is that a water pump shaft seal with bearings inside? Interesting if it is, would probably last forever.

    Looks like a Parker style pulley puller and parker.

    Milton Parker was one heck of a tools engineer.

    Maybe it's the start of a very cool tool I saw many years ago for R&R'g seals in cramped quarters?

    It had teeth that cut into the front of the seal and locked, and then threads pulled the seal out. Had another sleeve to push the new seal in.

    I made something similar for cam seals but there were no chamfers on the front of the cam seal surfaces to start the lip of the seal which made it a real PITA ... but it was still easier than pulling cam covers that day :).
