No idea of the chassis number, unfortunately. It certainly was a popular car during that event.

I do recall that a Reza R loaned his new 25th for a Brands Hatch racetrack shakedown but I cannot shed light on the chassis number.

Joe, do you know what happened to this particular car and other race Countach's like it?
To me these were always the most aggressive and intimidating version of the car.
And maybe a dumb question but would they be legal to drive on the street?

Matt, last I heard, the #88 Rain X/Advan Countach 25th exists in Japan with a member of the JLOC (Japan Lamborghini Owners Club).

Its worth noting that this is the only race-prepared 25th that is well-known which actually participated in a formal race series. It took part on the Japan GTC (Grand Touring Car) race series in 1994/5, ran by Art Sports (Japan) and sponsored by Rain X/Advan.

In its initial mildly-modified form (below in white), it might have been able to make it street legal, but, in its fully-modified race-car form (in yellow livery) there is nothing about it that allows it to be street legal, and lighting, ground-clearance etc restrict its use to the track.

My understanding is that the # 88 J GTC 25th's basic spec consists of a tuned 550 bhp V12 tuned engine, 18 inch rims with racing slicks, race brakes, front air-extractor & lowered splitter, full FIA-spec roll-cage, single-seat race bucket, Plexiglas windows, etc.

Unfortunately not much about this car, its transformation, and its final spec has been shared with the world. Hopefully that will change!

This has all been posted before, but perhaps its good to document it in this one-variant dedicated thread.

There is a scale model of the Rain X race Countach. I'm not sure how accurate it is. I don't have it yet but perhaps I will need to...

Apologies, I didn't read or answer this part of your question properly: in the past few years, USA 25ths have actually been 20-40% less than comparable-conditioned cars in Eu, that's why so many people have bought 25ths here and taken them away. Even today, they are 20 - 30% less to buy in the USA than in Europe.

Why the value disparity? IMO in the USA once the popular consensus amongst enthusiasts is to overlook or shun a particular variant, it has a real effect on values, ergo its depressed numbers. Often times, the overlooking of a particular model is for no real logical reason other than a trend based solely on current taste. The 25th represents great value for money, given that it is the newest of the Countachs, and the best developed, being the last-of-the-series.

With the relatively strong value of the Euro against the dollar from 2007 onward, it made USA cars even cheaper to buy for the Europeans, and in the four-year period 2007 to 2011 we saw many cars leave. This is something I have actually been party to, and now we are beginning to see images of these cars being used elsewhere, as you can see in this thread.

Admittedly, in 2012 I have seen this trend slow down.

By the way, in post http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=142027471&postcount=352 I meant to say 512 M not 512 TR!

    Lexan, definitely not Plexiglas... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexan

I did not question Grahams skills but even with better working brakes the 5 seconds difference is not beatable, I know this since I drove my car about 100 laps on Anneau du Rhin Race Track (hard for the brakes) with the original and upgraded brakes (the kit of Carl Bridson) as well with the normal tires and Pirelli PZero C Semi Slick on the front.

We have also been on the track with the swiss club and the german Iloc was on slazburgring etc. up to the diablo VT the brakes are the weakest point of all lambos plus the weight in general.

If you drive on the normal road even this might be unnecessary, it's a complete different requirement than a track which really needs the brakes to their limits.

Thank you, so its 12879 then?

I'm not certain if this car registered JRN 41 is 12879 or 12978 which ended up with Jim C in South Africa.

You may be right, & FWIW I'm very familiar with Lexan's better qualities as an F40 owner.

However, you'll have to ask Teruaki Terai why he says the car's side-windows are Plexiglass (its his project, he's a well-known member of Japan Lamborghini Owner’s Club).

He also confirms the car raced in the Japanese GTC Championship, taking part in five JGTC races in 1994, finishing twice in 10th and 16th places.

I was invited to a warehouse not far from me to see a 288 GTO which I ended up buying. It was in a collection of some 30 cars, amongst which was this 25th Anniversario.

1989 25th Anniversary # 12726, 135 delivery kilometers on the odometer, like new but regularly started & serviced, pristine, even the cigarette-lighter sticker still intact. Ex-(the late) Tony Carlini, nephew of Lee Iaccoca. Nero with Rosso interior piped in black. Much more striking than these mediocre cellphone images do justice.

Thanks for sharing Marcus. That looks like Rosso Perlato, is it? If it is, can yo snap & share with us a pic of the PPG paint sticker under the front hood? Very nice either way.

I'd be guessing if I speculated on how many were built in 1988, 1989 & 1990, but, we are working on a true factory production register and ought to have an idea soon.
