Below are better photos of the new 1/8th scale model of the 1961 Ferrari 156 F1 Sharknose. This is the ex- Phil Hill car that won the 1961 Italian GP at Monza. Both the nose section and rear body are completely removable, and the steering works. It is 19.5" long and made from around 1500 (!!) parts. The model is complete with leather base and plexi case cover. It has been produced in an exclusive edition of 99 in the UK. This is the race where Hill clinched the championship! Note: it is also available in von Trips livery by special order.

    Available for $6495 / €4940 / £4130 + shipping
Kindly let me know if you are interested.

This is a hand made model more than the CMC, and it shows. It's also alot bigger so I think its worth the asking price. No molded plastic windows here. Great looking model.

It's interesting that the car has both a 6v and a 12v battery.

From the photos it seems it was set up for 18 volts. Does anyone know why?

    Morry,

I know this is outside of your business but I'll ask anyway: Do you know anyone who has bought one of these models from Amalgam as a kit?

    Now how about a plug?

EVERYONE go out and buy from Collector Studio. Their products are great and Morry is a stand up guy.

They don't sell any models in kit form. There was talk about it at one time, but it never came into fruition. Thanks for the plug.

Side air intakes on the front hood where closed on Phil Hill's car at Monza 1961, afaik.

    Nevertheless, the model looks great.

    Very cool!

I almost did the shark nose for Cavallino this year. Too bad I can't make runs of 99. ;)

And dare I say a good value too, especially if it's being made in the UK.

OK, I stand corrected. One or two forum members here have correctly questioned my sense of value, which I based on the the initial information given/posted of the model being limited to Only 99 pieces and made in England. It is neither. Edition size is 199 pieces, and it is made in China.

I originally thought this piece was being made in the UK where overhead expenses, wages, cost of living, etc are much higher than in China; hence a good value considering all of that. However, I did not realize at first that it was an Amalgam piece which is (1) manufactured in China, and (2) Is an edition of 199 pieces, Not 99. I hope that clarifies my earlier post.

I did not mean too, but I've probably offended someone here.....again, and maybe I'll get banned. It is what it is. Regardless, the model still looks great model, but cost....

I sell hundreds of these large 1/8th models a year. Different strokes for different folks. Most if not all of the company's employees are British, and the main factory is in the UK.....not that these trivialities have any bearing on quality or value to check writers.

On a more positive note some of you may have heard, I am relocating my gallery down the street to a much larger facility in a month. Phone, website and email will remain the same.
