Assuming an original MSRP of $360K for a 2012 FF, what do you think a trade for the F12 at a Ferrari dealer should be: (1) Less than $250K (2) $250k to $275k (3) $275K to $300K (4) $300K to $325K (5) More than $325K (6) Anything they offer to get an F12
Option 3 is already retail for used FFs. By the time F12 shows up,trade-in value will be comfortably below $250k. Love the FF but that's the market reality.
Should be? Or will be? If u r lucky... Really lucky, (2). Most likely (1) depending on when. MSRP doesnt play a big factor on wholesale. More options the merrier, when u take delivery, more options more loss when u try to get out. $255-$260 a couple weeks ago!
My dealer is ASKING $277K for a 4800 mile 2102 FF. Assuming it sells for a little less, subtract 12-15% and there is your trade value. So, for 2K miles less usage, my guess is $235K trade value, TODAY. Less as time goes foward. Best.
So in one year, you lose $130k for driving it 5k miles = $26/mile prior to all other expenses (gas, insurance, maint)! That's an insane amount of depreciation compared to the 458 and other 8 cylinder cars...
Depreciation on these cars is steep but not as steep as above. I don't think anyone pays full MSRP for FF anymore.....
One of the reasons I am not getting in line for the new F12 is the eye watering depreciation hits the 12's take they take.
Ahhh, i over looked that part. If u want it right out of the gate, u can change all those figures by putting a 1 as the first #
Good point. The OP gave an assumed MSRP but then again with options, which increase the cost, perhaps $360k is close? Even the relative value comparison is a little shocking as a 599, with similar miles, would probably command $200k+ but its a 3-5 year older car. To me, that just doesn't make sense. Is my 599 estimate off? Or perhaps the FF depreciation curve will flatten over the next few years?
Is it just me that finds these V12 depreciation threads indescribably tedious? They drop like a rock, we all know it. If you can afford it, buy one. If not, dont. If you need to ask, you shouldn't. Job jobbed. Move on, nothing to see here.
You can always spot someone worried about depreciation, they have had very little fun with their FCar, no miles, but telling everyone they have a FCar ... but for what? My FF already has over 8200 miles since late October, along with my California, this one with over 16,000 miles. Fun is an "F" word that you can say in mixed company or on FChat! I hope to be in a position in a year or two to trade up to a new FF and start the miles all over again! Yep, I would love to get as much as possible when I resell one of my cars, the Cali will possibly go late this summer, somone will get a hell of a deal just to make it move, but these are Ferraris for goodness sakes! Drive it like it is a rental car and enjoy it like it was meant to be enjoyed, not from a distance with the cover on it. Snow in NW Ohio today, only a couple inches, darn! Only had a little fun driving the FF to the office this morning. Rick
The depreciation on these cars looks steep only in actual $$. Percentage wise they are still better then any other car that is priced at $150k+. I was addicted (still am) to AMGs as daily drivers, the money that pleasure cost me in just last 5 years (new car every year,63s and 65s) would easily cover a nicely equipped FF. You've got to pay to play........ As Rick above mentioned, folks fork out $300k on a Ferrari and then are afraid to put any miles on it for fear of losing a few Bucks when they get tired of looking at it sitting in the garage.
