That 500'000 might be old Francs. We in Finland have a similar history of revaluation of currency and some people fond of old times just never changed. My great aunt had a habit of buying lotto tickets "for 50 marks" each week and I remember thinking she must be mad. My father then explained that she was still using the old currency figures from 20 years before meaning she got herself one coupon for 50 pennies each week for some weekend excitement...

The French car is amazing. I truly hope the future owner will be wise enough to keep the mirror and radio antenna instead of reinstalling what is believed to be more correct (HAH!) these days.

I hope the new owner takes the same care on this beauty and will not restore it.
Keep it as is. Remember its only original once, the patina makes it even better!

There is no single answer. Every s/n has its own provenance and every owner or owner to be has their own standards. There are plenty of guidelines available.Which of these apply to each s/n is entirely up to any buyer.To some degree it will always be a compromise. I knew having owned a 328GTS in Italy for four years this was a near to the promised land I would get.When this became unsustainable I then committed, for many the unpardonable sin,of building a 250 California Kit car. My wife and I and some others were involved in creating this. In my, somewhat distant past I have owned an Austin 7 Special, MG TC, Morgan +4, Alfa 2000,and an E Type. Why exactly I decided to build this Kit car I am still not sure of but it was "a compromise" which is still fraught with highs and lows. Had enought of this?? I thought so. would this car only be entered in the preservation class or could something like this be eligible for a silver, gold platinum. as long as its original and driveable and correct it should recieve more accolades than it simply survived?

Since the catalog mentions it having a door handle from a Renault, I'm guessing it wouldn't win a platinum as-is.

That said, if I owned it I wouldn't change a thing, cosmetically.

 

Funny how this model becomes more more attractive as time passes. Did these come with 400mm and 16 inch wheels as well? I think they'd look better with larger wheels.

Don't think I've ever seen one with 400 mm wheels. These cars came along a bit later than the PF coupe.

 

Wow, great car! These 250 convertible are really very stylish cars.

 

I had the pleasure of seeing a well-patinated car on Italian plates like this participate in the MM Tribute 2010. I drove up with it quite often during the 1,500 miles. Lovely to see on the road. There was a lovely blue example in that rallye as well. Lovely cars, and I've always said that these will be the next thing to follow the Cali.
