Unloading a ton of memorabilia, including some old magazines. Found tow issues of Sports Illustrated from October 1973 that are going on Ebay. That time is ingrained in my mind, I can not forget the USGP at The Glen. I was working it as a professional photographer, met a driver named Francois Cevert.

The first issue of SI for that month was a prelude to the GP. The second issue was the sad results. Great interviews in both, scary comments by Cevert before his accident. Below is a photo of that accident that does not appear often. Along with photos of the magazine article.

Ebay Sindo. No store, I am packing to move in late March, I do not want to take much with me, so 95% is going. Many old magazines from the 60s, 70s, like Road & Track, Car & Driver. Books like Automobile Year from the 1950s-1970s. Other F1 books.

    Sent PM.

    Cool!

Is it yours? I guess not, but would be *way* cool if it were!

    Good luck with the sale,
    Cheers,
    Ian

No, not mine. I was in the Tyrrell pits at the time. Walked up the stairs to the pit box roof when I saw that practice had been stopped. Shortly after, Jackie came in and grabbed Helen, then they went directly to a woman that I later found out was Cevert's sister, married to I think Beltoise. The three embraced and the tears flowed. At that time, I had no idea what happened. Later, I considered taking up fashion photography.

I did take this photo in the morning practice, just after talking to him for nearly an hour.

"This content is currently unavailable" :(

[Both on the iPad and the Mac BTW ;)]

Oh man, I've seen some big shunts, but don't recall (maybe deliberately after all this time) witnessing anything like that. :( [Surtees laid me off just ahead of the Italian GP that got Ronnie. :( I was bummed & jobless, but happy I wasn't on the wall that day. :(]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Most of my photos are in the thread: Official 1970-1989 Racing Photo Thread. Ian, I just tried the link again on my laptop, got connected. Try from a regular PC.
