If they wanted to do that VAG could simply buy Red Bull out of it's small change purse.

Like Mercedes when they bought the world champion Brawn GP?
    Doesn't always work...
And even in the case of succeeding -- buying a winning team or engine doesn't make a car manufacturer a true champion. It rather demonstrates the lack of technicsl competency and racing spirit.

VAG's Audi Le Mans domination speaks for itself as will the coming Audi R20 Hypercar.

Credits for Audi's dedication to endurance racing.
But the competition was mostly not very challenging:
Zero or one serious factory entry with a clearly smaller budget.

And Toyota already in their 3rd race had the better car than Audi!

That may be true but I dont recall Audi having too much competition in that particular class in Le Mans...

Leave it to gtspirit to report news that's not really news. The price and horse power are still just guesses.

Even if the P1 can pull out better lap times than the F70, it doesn't matter, because the P1 is so damn UGLY.

And the lap times are to be seen.
The MP4-12C has a 10% better power to weight ratio than the 458 but isn't any faster around a race track.

Actually they have quoted the Autoblog article - they had a journalist on-site at the event.

But you are right, nothing has yet to be officially confirmed.

this challenge have only one leader
P1: car with crappy exhaust sound, Mclaren will be have huge problem to sell this car in the numbers they predict
918: car with crappy exhaust sound, Porshe will have even bigger problem to sell their cars than Mclaren
F70: after the end of Zonda production, the only hypercar on the market with beautiful symphony of naturally aspirated V12, there will be much more customers who want buy it than numbers of cars Ferrari plans to build

McLaren and Porsche won't struggle as much as you think as Ferrari won't build as many cars as the number of people who will want to buy them. That money will go somewhere else and from what I know about the McLaren so far, the owners will still be very pleased with their decision. Even the 918 owners will have a lot to smile about - the people who've gone out in them for test rides and reported their experience seem to have come away impressed.

The good thing is that there are lots of choices if you are fortunate enough to be a customer for one of these fine automobiles.

I think that Ferrari are treating the link between price and number to be built very cautiously. The Macca is a stupendus motorcar and it has its own (very passionate) clientele without any help from surplus buyers from anyone else.

For me, the F70 would be a sentimental decision first and foremost, being in my third decade of Ferrari ownership.

Can't teach an old dog new tricks, they say...

And in P1 you'll have the added benefit of the engine air intake right over your head. If it's anything like the experience of a McLaren F1, it makes for some extra sensory overload. In fact I predict that inside P1 it will be even more prevalent.

+1. This is a great time if you're into cars.

I own both a Mc and an F. Love them both. Interesting thing is the people who actually own both are the most balanced about their views. Are we more biased or less biased? :)
