What on earth is going on? A 250 Boano for $850K (incl commission)?! Not long ago 275 GTB/4 for trading at that level (2005/2006). Prices are out of control!

 

No much less, unless the Eur-Usd was very apart. In Euro's about half of that!! Pierre might accusing me for watching goats, but that is what I remember quite good...

He did not say that a painting was sold for that money!
But painting like the Mona Lisa and Picasso`s "Les Demoiselles d’Avignon" would be clearly in that league!

 

Loved this car. Some Red overspray on radiator and right side chrome work, red-orange paint showing through some chipped areas, so not original paint everywhere, which is too bad. Otherwise very cool car.

Superamerica was withdrawn Miura was $600K on the hammer

 

And Gooding "had an interest in it", which sounds as though they "owned it". During their disclosure they mentioned that the owner of the Lancia "didn't want to auction", just sell it on that day so it sounds as though Gooding bought the car to then sell in the auction.

Since the description of the transaction was a little vague, maybe Gooding bought it for a floor price and then agreed to some sort of sharing in any price achieved above that floor.

I wonder if the seller regrets that move?

Is there chandelier bidding in car auctions? Do they admit it as the Art market people pretty much do?

The 330 2+2 hammered at $250k was at Gooding.

That was a GTC price a year ago. These prices are a bit nutty, I'm still scratching my head. Sadly, I don't think many of these cars are going to real "Car Guys". These are probably new buyers, taking them to new levels.

it is amazing that 330GT 2+2s lagged for so long and then in one fell swoop doubled in price (this may not be the market, though). I remember DPM in Monaco had a fresh, completely restored in Maranello 330GT 2+2 for sale last year - for EUR 150,000. Simon Furlonger bought it and listed it at GBP 150,000 - a considerable mark-up. Now it doesn't seem so crazy.

What a fabulous 330GT 2+2. Restored at the factory and Classiche certified. An exceptional example in the true sense of the word I'm sure.
