That is truly one of the greatest Countach images yet posted on FChat.

This ILOC gentleman kills a few bugs himself, although unlikely at the same velocity as you.

I have seen it nudge 200 mark with wing however GPS stated 189 mph rpm was around 7700.. She had just had the factory give her major service, Valve clearances, full card over haul, suspension set up etc.. she also had 48000KMS under her belt so well run in..

She is pretty stable at that speed, remember she has a wing on which some say improves stability (cornering)... The wing is now off so this year I will be able to compare what the difference really is.My guess and it is a guess the top end will be slightly higher, just high speed cornering may feel a little unstable in the 170+ mph, lots of factors will play a roll from wind to tarmac type etc.

Excellent info. Your experience mirrors mine. Whereas I was always very nervous in the earlier cars are speed, the 25th seems planted. In Japan they tested a 25th to 190 mph @ 7800 so that's very close to what you saw, which is pretty astonishing with all the drag that the wing generates. In standard trim, definitely the fastest Countach, and personally, I think the bodywork (reworked aero) and stance are factors.

So now I'm curious what gearing is involved. What VIN sn# is this car ie above or below 535?

12879 is my car the twin car is in SA with Jim C, which is 12978 they both have black sports seats with yellow piping, not sure if the wing was original fittment mine was supplied without..

With regards the drive, yes the 25th is more stable than my 5000s 81 car with wing
This year I am looking forward roads permitting to test her without the wing for the first time..

    Was this some years ago?
Since I can remember 2002 your car being there when we passed by with the german classic club.
189mph is impressive, more than 100 additional rpm you won't get with the MM box, unless you unplug the rev limiter module.

this was in 2002 after visit for service work at the factory. I stayed after most went home in 2001 Murcie party, My car got hit by the hale storm, on the way home she developed a gearbox fault, sent her back to the factory and had major overhaul. So she was there from Oct 2001 through till August 2002 ( I did drive up to Le Man in 2002 for a shake down run before dropping her back at the factory ) collected her in the late August.

I have a MM box but not fitted, I has a tiny black box on a aluminum plate. I believe not limiter is set as it bounces off past the 9000rpm in 1st 2nd 3rd without must issue.

That was it, we saw your car in 2002, I had issues with cooling and replaced the fans with those of the 25th later on.
You might have an aftermarket box like crane or even the italian replacement, 9000 rpm is extremely high, I used to turn mine up to 8000 but not more, theoretically I can turn it up to 9600 with the MSD ignition box. But since 10% more rpm means 70% more stress on a 26 year old engine I won't turn more than 8000.

I heard it was Weber box once, how true that is I really don't know, but no markings at all on the unit, MSD box is it good? I have always run my car hard when out, but a fair point now she is getting on a bit now though and so am I.

IME the MSD 7 is the best for a carbed car, easy to put in and no problems at all, I had to replace once the coil in ten years (for low bucks).
Everybody who has it would never go back, even Valentino said they would have been happy to have such a box instead of the MM.
Later Lamborghini had a replacement for the MM, it's a smaller box which has the bull sign on top, no idea who produced this box. I know a handfull cars with this box.

The Black and red is very striking in that car...There were some very nice colour combos chosen by owners.

    For me the

Purple/lilac car with Raspberry pinky red is awesome (never seen it in the flesh) UK car. That would be a car I would like to own.

    Yellow with Bitter chocolate
    Silver with red
mid blue with pale baby blue
    candy apple blue with white

these would be my top 5 choices.

Indeed, liveries of the 25th are pretty fabulous. The Lilac/red car is 12022 I believe, seen here entering the grounds at Silverstone.

I always liked the orange car ordered to match his LP400, even more cool is the fact that the original owner still has it today!
