When I received my 458 I got a VentureShield installed in the front and mirrors right away and I am pretty happy about it.
Then I noticed that the rockers (who would have imagined with a name like that!) are getting chipped a bit so I ordered the following thinking it should be relatively easy to install myself:

I haven't started yet but I noticed that the Pininfarina badge is going to be an issue; anyone with experience doing this or advice?

    Thanks

I had clear bra installed on my rockers. They took off the badge, then put the badge on the clear bra. I think the other option is that some clear bra is pre-cut for the badge, but this leaves a gap between the edge of the clear bra and badge, so does not look as clean.

Wouldn't this predispose the badge from peeling away from the plastic/tearing the film?

Had this done as a custom cut out section and you could really not see it unless you were on right on top of it (I could see it when I washed the area). Was very happy with the installation.

The installer I used works on many Ferrari's, so I would think this would not be an issue based on their experience.

Same here, they removed the badge, applied the clear armor and put the badge back on.

Can someone provide a picture? On one hand I thought we were speaking of the lower portion the car usually referred to as "rocker panels", but when somone says removal of the "badge" that sound like the fender. Best

Anyone has experience safely removing the Pininfarina badge and can give me some pointers?

There are really a couple of ways of doing it. Sometimes we use heat and some fishing line to soften the adhesive up, then slide the line under the badge along the body panel to remove it. The other method is to actually freeze the adhesive under neath and the badge will pop off. For that badge I would use the heat method. A hairdryer should be sufficient.

On mine they just cut around the emblem. You can't tell. Unless you are right up on it.

Hair dryer and dental floss does the trick. Than some goo gone to remove any residue

    Thanks sounds relatively easy.
What adhesive should I use to put it back on? Or would there be enough left on the badge itself and I just need to reheat it?

My installer put brand new badges on after he put plastic film on rockers... It has happened twice now, they don't stay on. After about 2 weeks start loosening and eventually fall off. Anyone else have this problem? I do not have a good local place to make a cut away so it can be adhered to the actual paint and not plastic bra.
