do you enjoy being alive? are you looking to trade up from the GT3? if so, and you are properly done with the limits of the GT3 (and not just "bored" or "used to" its performance), then yeah, get a GT2. it's the ultimate 911 in a lot of ways.
I haven't even scratched the limits of the gt3, just am thinking along the lines of "damn that's one bad ass car".
it is. maybe *too* badass. I put the 6-GT2 in the same category as the F40 and CGT...cars that most people can't handle under most conditions. respect the car.
I was driving my SC on a club drive n the mountains. The car in front of me was a Red GT-2. We stopped at a light. He was first, I was behind him. Light turned green. The GT-2 looked like it had been catupaulted off a carrier deck... it was just GONE. No tire smoke, it looked like it was a half mile away before I crossed the intersection. Incredible.
Before I moved "1 inch" towards a purchase I would want a FULL diagnostic check of the engine, including leakdown test, turbos check, oil analysist....that is NOT a grandma's car driven only to bingo on Wednesdays & church on Sundays...the engine was upgraded for HORSEPOWER!!!...I'm SURE the owner/s....MASHED the PEDAL!!!!.....Mark
your be surprised...a lot of owners mash the pedal once, piss their pants, and idle to cars and coffee for the rest of their ownership tenure.
I call those "Depends Diaper Drivers"....."1" of the quickest cars I've ever been in was a "Souped Up " Twin Turbo Porsche....would Rev to 8,000 Sooo Quick, that the next gear was just seemingly a "Second" in time away, was owned by a 70ish year old gentlemen, he enjoyed watching/making the passengers "Pee, Pee", thus the plastic covered passenger seat....Blindingly QUICK!!!.....Mark
Love the gt2. Just need routine time in the seat and dial up your respect knob to max and you'll be fine. Almost forgot .. DONT LIFT
well it is at DC motors but for a GT2, not really...those have stabilized in the mid to high 60's. 6-GT3s are high 40's to mid 50's. this car is somewhat high mileage for a GT2 but that wouldn't concern me if the PPI and DME inspections were clear.
I thought that was supposed to be the 993. Have a few Porsches had this moniker? All the best, Andrew.
i seem to recall a silver 996 gt2 with low miles that sold for low $70's about a year ago almost no miles out of the NE... i guess prices have firmed a bunch
yeah I've noticed prices have firmed a bunch on a lot of cars in the $50-100k range in the last 12-18 months.
I've heard so much about the 996 GT2 being a ridiculously quick car. Moreso than any other modern Porsche other than the CGT. How does it compare to the new GT2/GT2RS?
cant you build the same car just be ripping the front awd stuff of a 996tt and some mods for 1/2 price ?
but it woulnd't be a GT2 but yes I suppose you could buy a 996tt and remove the front drivetrain, do some suspension mods and have something similar for $20k or so less.
yep. GT2s are mid to high 60's, I've seen 996tt's go for as little as mid 30's but usually they're around $40-45k or so for nice cars. 996tt is a hell of a performance bargain.
Very true. I was the third owner on mine with 2K miles. You run out of talent very quickly with those cars.
