Correct. Peugeot won in 2009 and were usually faster cars than the Audi's. Too bad that reliability proved to be below par at Le Mans, but they won everywhere else.

No, not crap...just a odd sounding V8, just like the 12C, which is not surprising as the P1 shares the same engine...

Looks a whole lot better with the disguise than without it....

One word sums it up: ugh

Not a question of bias. Take both out, turn off all the aids and thrash them around a track and your views will no longer be quite as balanced as without the aids one of the two becomes quite unbalanced ..... and it isn't the Ferrari

Both cars are faster with the aids on, and since the goal of being on a track is to go as fast as possible, why would you want to take the aids off? Besides, they are street cars and I drive with the aids on the street.

In any case the McLaren is fantastic on the track and every bit as fast as the 458, at least in my experience

Yes it is. Take a customer 458 and a customer MP-12C, not an Italian factory rigged 458 which journalists sign documents not to disclose. Customer 12C's regularly make more power and weigh less than customer 458's and easily outlap them as a result.

You must be joking! An fchatter (pride) recently clocked his private 458 from 100 to 200 km/h. The result? 6.1 seconds! This "ringer" thing is absurd and idiotic, just like the British journalist that initiated it.

+1. The "ringer" thing is only absurd in that all the manufacturers do it to a greater or lesser extent. In my view, that makes it a level playing field. Trying to suggest that Ferrari's are more liable to ringing than McLaren's is comedic.

A little tweak of the waste gate in a turbo car will boost the hp significantly. Extracting more hp in a high strung NA car like the 458 is not easily achieved. I wonder which car really was the ringer in those tests.

Hmmmm, in many people's hands maybe. In reality, the 458 is quicker turned off and the Mac is slower in the same configuration. Ask Jason Plato.....

Are we talking about US spec cars, euro spec cars??? Come on! In Europe no one - not even professional racing drivers - has consistently lapped race tracks (NB tracks not just one track) faster in the McLaren

Secondly, EVERY manufacturer gives the press tweaked cars that includes McLaren especially with a turbo car where the tweak is so easy... Ferrari do the same, I am sure, but it is not as easy to tweak a normally aspirated engine without creating other complications.

It is not only about bhp or power to weight ratio but how the available power is exploited.

Best example is an FXX Evo versus a 599 XX Evo. The FXX has 110 bhp more and weighs about 80 kgs less than the 599 and yet the 599 is marginally quicker on most tracks.....

Don't you think that your video is quite too old?
How about something like this for that matter? Not a 458, but a Huayra instead!
