I like the way the new cars look. I picked a lot of the pictures above to post because it is easy to see just how much they've changed the body. I'm glad they got rid of the front splitter and now it looks much better. Same for the rear wing, spoiler whatever. I don't care much for having the drivers name across the windshield. I was there yesterday from 9 to 9 and was definitely feeling it this morning. I figured I'd rest up, take care of some business and go back tomorrow. I would've been there in turn 3 for that session but you can't see the back straight from my spot. I've always wanted to get a few shots of the back stretch but there is no way to get an angle without credentials. The closest I can see is the part where the banking begins which is where they ended up in the grass. The shot here of the #48 is about as far as I can reach towards the back straight and as you can see its not a very pretty shot so I hardly ever focus on it. I don't know if it will even be worth going back tomorrow. Video, nascar.speedtv.com/article/cup-massive-crash-interrupts-testing-nascar-sprint Sounds like really bad news for some teams, ie lack of time and parts to quickly return to testing.
Wow, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s No. 88 unsponsored for 13 races - ESPN I assume the "right deal" is a lot more than most teams would want given the high profile team & driver in question but this has got to sting the 88 folks a bit. Maybe B-J will step up with some of Rick's money or else the 88 will revert to start & park status.

honestly, I think it's a function of that team's lack of on track success. winners get paid, and winners get laid
I know the 88's pain... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXmD6qdDCDE]Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (4/8) Shake and Bake Is Dead - (2006) HD - YouTube[/ame] -SRB
danicrash is said to be dating stenhouse. i hope he is not telling his friends that his new gf is hot? rich yes...hot no.
chas, come to charlotte (lake norman area) and I will introduce you to her old driving coach JB. at this point, he will tell you like it is. mark my words, she will find her way to winners circle with a big hp. car on a mile and a half or longer.
Glad everyone has their own opinion. I don't think she's 'bad' looking, she has this mean, pouty look about her. 'Hot'? That's subjective, but I have seen her look VERY good, and just like a car - with enough cosmetics you can make a turd look good.

hendrick power is in another league. would not surprise me if that car of hers is making 50 more hp than fords or even other chebby's. daytona is purse flat footing. only aero and horsepower get you a pole.
I remember watching the NW race at Bristol last year, and remarking to those around me, Eliot Sadler had a cheater car. He won the race, but got busted later. When you watch enough races, you can tell. Some guys are better at flying under the radar than others. A huge team like Hendricks, may push over the limits of the rules on one or two drivers to see if they can get away with it. Tony got caught with unapproved hoses during qual for a restrictor race last year. I didn't watch Daytona qualifying, so I can't comment on Danica. Daytona and Talladega Qual is pretty darn boring to watch. Car plays a lot more into Daytona than other tracks. Still takes some driving, but car is huge. Tracks that do qualifying in the evening, the order you go out in is huge, the sunset really changes track conditions. If Danica was/is caught cheating, with the media blitz around her, they'd do well to never let it out. Chad Knaus's tricks are probably in play on Danica's car rather than Johnson's. The #48 gets watched pretty darn tight, and its popular to hit them with a penalty if possible. I've met Chad a few times, he's got an amazing brain in that skull of his. He's not a bad driver either, we've raced karts on one of the rare weekends he's taken off.
chad is the best in nascar. btw, danica's car will be fine...this is exactly what nascar needs to help regain ratings. the seats were not anywhere near at capacity last year this will help! she was not just the fastest but she was a good bit faster than all but JG. hedrick cars made up 4 of the top 5.
If I were under 40, I would think Danica is hot. But I am not, so she would be a really hot daughter. I guess it is because I like those librarian, subtle looking women. She really does have great race skills, and in the right engine/chassis combination, she will whip those NASCAR boys balls into remission. Why are some of you so myopic as to not see this? Luck has nothing to do with getting the pole at the Daytona 500. Every team wants that position, it is worth much $$$$, so the effort by the crew and the driver are paramount. Danica and her crwe did it. And consider, she beat her boss, Tony. His and Ryan's balls are a bit smaller tonight. And if you ever watched TS race sprints, his huevos gotta be huge.
ron, i agree that this particular pole will mean huge money...but i suspect that this pole winner is bigger for the france family in raw dollars than it is to the actual pole winner. there is no other driver that could have made this day such a massive event...not even jr. no secret that i am not a danica fan. in fairness, she is a decent wheel but not a great one by any measure. she has also been fortunate to be a sponsor's dream so she has always had the best race packages. she is not nor will she ever be a champion. i have said it time and time again, she will find her way to victory lane this year. it will be on a mile and a half or longer format where horsepower will rule the event.
Hmmmm.... I figured this thread may come alive tonight..... I'm no NASCAR guru, but I do like to think I know a little about motor sport in general. I do know that getting pole, at any level, ain't easy! Of course she's got some serious HP and a decent car, but so have many others. It's not like she's the only person with Hendrick power. Or is it all fixed for PR?...... Cheers, Ian
