Hello- I am seriously considering this car and would appreciate any feedback from those who are familiar with the vehicle and marketplace. They were asking $63k and I've worked them off that price a bit.

I bought it yesterday. Keep your eyes on the obituaries section as my wife is going to f*cking kill me when she finds out. Wish me luck!

HA! Awesome. Congrats. Tell your future widow I'll pay 50 cents on the dollar to help with expenses!

That is so great. One ride to the dinner outing of her choice and she'll be convinced that it is the mind-blowing sense-of-occasion we all need at some point in our lives.

    Enjoy. Pics a'plenty are required.

Good man, the next Ferrari I am going to buy will be a 512. I just haven't settled on the M or TR yet? Personally I love both. I think it will come down to the driving experience. I hear the M is more refined so that could reflect well on the TR.

Anyway, enjoy yours. Beautiful cars and a real connoisseurs choice.

Thanks for all the kind words and support. Needless to say I am very excited about entering the world of supercar ownership with a car that graced my bedroom wall as a kid. I have about 9 days until it shows up and will need to figure out a way to tell my wife during that time. Some have suggested buying her a gift and telling her while she's not paying attention- may take that route. I will be sure to upload some pics once my new baby comes home. Cheers.

This may sound crazy, but you may be pleasantly surprised. My wife hates driving in the Testarossa. She has been in it once and that was it.

HOWEVER, she never gave me an ounce of grief about owning it. In the flesh, it is such an absolutely awe inspiring vehicle, it just takes peoples breath away. My wife could care less about cars, but she can appreciate art. The Testarossa is automotive art. It is so beautiful and captivating that most women will appreciate it for what it is, even if they don't like cars and don't want anything to do with them. None of my wife's friends are car people, but most of them have taken a picture of them standing next to the TR ;)

It is also not a "Waste of money" We can debate whether it is an appreciating asset (it is certainly not in the short term) , but it is certainly not a depreciating one at this point unless you fail to maintain her mechanically or cosmetically. So unless you suffer a catastrophic failure of some sort, your true cost of ownership over 3 years will probably be far less than the depreciation alone on even an entry level Mercedes or BMW.

As for the car itself. In 9 days, be prepared to be blown the F- away. I have driven many Ferraris and driven in countless more. The Testarossa is in a league of its own. It is the baddest b--tch to ever come out of Maranello, and she knows it.

You are going to love her.

    LMAO!!!!!

That's exactly what I did with our first Ferrari!

If I factor the cost of the kitchen into my Mondial's purchase price, I could have bought a countach :)

Go to the Lambo and Ferrari dealer and get brochures for the most expensive cars you can get. Get her head spinning around 2-3 hundred thousand cars for a few days. Then act all sad because you are doing the responsible thing by getting a used car.

Or tell her you knocked up the nanny and bought a Testarossa. Then say, 'Just kidding,...the nanny is ugly.'

this what christian suggested seems very good to me :)
but I would prefer the first choice because may be you have no more time to tell her .... 'Just kidding,...the nanny is ugly.' :) :)

Congrats Tom... my wife didn't like the first three TRs I looked at so I purchased the one I have without telling her.

She drove me to the Bank where I paid off the balance on the car from the previous owner and secured the title. She waited in lobby wondering what I was doing, being a real estate investor, she was thinking I was making arrangements for a loan to buy a building. After we were done, I walked over and introduced the seller to my wife and told her to head home and I will see her in an hour. She said what do you mean?? I said, I just purchase my Ferrari... :) It took more than an hour to get home and I was only 16 miles away.

One drive and she was in love with the TR and she never called her ugly or old looking ever again. I have to tell you that I purchased for her 996 in speed yellow in advance to justify my TR purchase, it worked... :) but I had to give up one of my garage spaces... lol

Enjoy your TR in good health, the only remaining thing to do, is join our TR group... Prancing Thunder. We are planning for a large TR gathering worldwide and love to have you. Best of all it is FREE membership.

I gave my in-laws a 15 day trip to Israel the week before I bought my first Ferrari, a 430 Spider. After I told her I got the car she actually said "is that why you bought my parents that trip" I said of course not. That worked great. Now I am looking for my first TR and I need some new ideas. The kitchen might work.

Your story and others gives me some hope. I think deep down Ferrari embodies sexiness which is appealing to women so she will probably take the news well. That being said, I still haven't told her. Waiting for the right time. I probably should have mentioned in my initial post that I just finished a complete restore/modernization on a '95 993 widebody cab that I bought last June otherwise I don't think she would care. It's the concept of "another impractical sports car?" that I foresee being the issue. At this point I am too focused on counting the days til the car arrives- haven't been this excited in a long time.

    Still haven't told her?!?!

Yikes! Your original prophecy may come true. I hope you at least get to drive it once before she kills you. That way you can spend eternity wearing the biggest sh*t-eating grin you have ever had...

BTW - I will up the offer to $0.60 on the dollar to defray expenses after you are gone. And I will take the 993 to boot. Pls tell the future widow to PM me.

We look forward to the video of her delivery. Wait until you start driving her and you will be amazed how many people on the road will follow you, give you thumbs up and cameras making you feel a celeb. FYI, let her warm up, she does not like to be pushed around into 2nd gear when she is cold.
