The 246-L manual (30/69) lists these part numbers for the exhaust headers: N.Fig Matricola Disegno Descrizione 13 236L 20422 Collettore scarico posteriore (rear) 14 236L 20421 Collettore scarico anteriore (front) The 206 parts manual (39/69) lists the part numbers reversed: 13 236L 20421 Collettore scarico posteriore 14 236L 20422 Collettore scarico anteriore I think the 206 manual is correct and this is a typo in the 246 manual ? I have a rear header with my car which turned out to be from a FIAT Dino. Then I recently received an M/early E-series rear header pipe marked as 20421 with a 20422 sticker underneath, marked for a 206. I would have felt a little happier had it matched either of the part numbers indicated but it won't fit the exhaust with a longer fixed flange, and it's missing the heat shield mounts. Does only superformance make the repro early header pipes or are NOS/OEM available somewhere else? Andrew
Hello Andrew, 206 GT and 246 L-series exhaust headers are very much different. See attached picture of a pair of 206 GT exhaust headers. Regards Matthias Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah yes, the front header has the extra mount for the tuning box. Apart from this, are they the same? The rear headers appear identical and all other part numbers on the page are the same (for heat shields, gaskets etc.). You'd expect the front L-series header to have a new part number, unless they considered this a minor change in production. I believe this is the case since it appears the L-series front header would also fit a 206, and throw out the tuning box. In any case, I'm interested to know if the numbers in the L-series manual are reversed? Andrew
and the rear header has the tuning box directly welded to it.... parts numbers of 206 GT and L-series headers must be different, looks like a mistake to me... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry, yes, rear as well... Below is a photo of my front header, Alvaro posted his L-series rear header here recently: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141999058-post14.html Several parts dealers and are consistent with the 206 manual: McCann: 20421 REAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD WITH EXPANSION BOX, DINO 206 (ANSA # FE1511)(NLA) 20422 FRONT EXHAUST MANIFOLD, DINO 206 (ANSA # FE1501)(NLA) Maranello Classic Parts: 20421 206gt Rear manifold oe 20422 206gt Front manifold oe Note that Maranello list this as fitting the 206gt and 246gt. I'm pretty sure they have the same part #'s but later modified to eliminate the tuning boxes, and the numbers in the L-series manual were accidentally reversed. They could keep the same part number as they are interchangeable 246gt to 206gt. at least.. I'll stick with that story until someone finds a blueprint or something with a different part number on it... I agree, they are fundamentally different parts... thanks, Andrew Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was pleased to find a rear L-series exhaust header in good condition, eventually. The heat shield straps are the same as Alvaros picture. For some reason whilst looking, I ended up with a FIAT dino, L-series and 2x M/early E-series rear headers, late E front header, and a collection of heat shields. Image Unavailable, Please Login
