nope Good point We have to wait and see - the F70 may be better looking but it is not a foregone conclusion.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I find the Enzo just stunning, my favourite call design bar none! I also find the F50 gorgeous. The P1 looks good too, even though it's a bit cheesy. As for the performance, let's wait and see but I don't think that Ferrari will let itself to be beaten. McLaren was saying the same things for the MP4 12C and we all know how that ended; being slower than the 2 year old 458 it was supposed to annihilate! I see history repeating itself, especially now that Ferrari doesn't have the age disadvantage it had with the Italia!!!
I agree with you. Especially when you say that history repeats itself. In italy we say "Tra i due litiganti, il terzo gode" (The third one is the winner between two who fight). And the third one is not Porsche...

Christ that roof profile is ugly and being the only actual production part of the car we can see the shape of I haven't got high hopes for the rest... Also, count me in as someone who finds the Enzo and F50 ugly. They've got nothing on the F40 imo and especially not the P1...
Thanks! However they reveal nothing new to me, same "old" mule... anyone seeing anything new? I'm still curious about the rear lower central area... exhaust? heat vent? diffuser? brake/fog light?
??? A Enzo is 7:25 at the Ring. Going fast at the Ring or on any race course involves a a lot more than weight and HP. P 4/5 C weighs 2950 (ballast) and only had about 550 total HP when it did a 6:51. It does make 2800 lbs of down force and pull over 2.8 G's. When P1/F70/918 are taken to the Ring the bench racing will stop and the real numbers will be there for all to see.
Unless all 3 cars are run on the same day, each with their own fair pit support, and each with the same "ring master" driver(s), any numbers will have little real significance. Ring lap times for road cars are nothing more then marketing exercises. Their is far to many variables that can enhanced or subtracted performance.
What do you think your car would run on street legal tires with full treads as all other production car times were set with (pirelli Corsa or michelin sport cup style tires but not road legal slicks)? All we can do is bench race at this time until they come out, I just don't understand how you can compare the 918 and F70, based on what is known, and figure that they will run the same lap time. The 918 is 600lbs heavier and has a 150hp disadvantage. Do you think it has some crazy aero to keep it even? Or do you just think that the F70 will be lacking in aero and suspension design relative to it's powertrain and weight? I don't know enough about the Mclaren to even compare, but we have fairly solid specs on the 918 and F70. We know the F70 is at least 5 seconds a lap faster at Fiorano than the Enzo and the 918 ran a 7:11 at the ring. Even if the 7:25 lap by the Enzo wasn't hampered by ride height and suspension issues, 5 seconds at Fiorano translates into about 25 seconds at the ring....
People are so obsessed with N-ring times that if I was Ferrari/Porsche/McLaren I would take good care of not getting involved in any official testing where I could be forever marked as a Ring Loser. As a motoring fan I would love the facts but I perfectly understand the fears of the car makers.
I am not sure the word "obsession" is apt. It is nice, and it is important, but it is not the holy grail. Wait. I just thought about that. It is the holy grail. Nevermind.
Manufacturers are constantly looking for honest, relevant metrics. And once they've found them, ways around them.
The Enzo that achieved that time had a suspension problem (it overheated). I reckon the Enzo can pull out a 7: 20 on the Ring.
There is a question if this is not a design flaw, and that every enzo will overheat, so the time stands for now.. Regarding the Nring F70 time comparison, the likelihood is we won't see an F70 tested there for a very long time, it took for Enzo to be tested there 5years since it's intoduction.. and F599 GTO hasn't been there yet...
I would love it is the new F70/150 was officially named "Testarossa". In my opinion the most beautiful name for an Italian exotic car ever coined.
Has anybody had the price CONFIRMED to them? I've been given a price, off the record, that seems, well, not as I expected... Definatley not the 1mm euros as quoted a few times here I'm talking about base price before spec, just for the road going 'basic' form. Regards Mike James
I dont think there is any official pricing yet but a few months ago my dealer said they expected it to be in the 1.6 to 1.8 range.
Sorry but I find the P1 to be pretty ugly with near clown car proportions. The details are too pudgy and lines are all over the place. Definitely doesn't have the crispness of the F1. -F
If I was Ferrari and was looking at people buying preowned Enzos for $1.5M I would not think even for a moment that I wouldn't be able to get away with $1.8M for the new car. I mean in some ways the buyers are voting for the price of the future car with their wallets, by what they are willing to pay for the preowned ones.
